  1. i really dont think its dirty looking, its an original color combo, and considering its a veneer i think it came out great!
  2. man that thing would look killer with a natural finish..
  3. cool, nice job first time ive seen a rosette used on a solid body!
  4. what no pics of the top? your going for that dramatic pause arent you! i think itll look great, the input jack is really original, i also like the way the veneers came out, dont see many guitars using veneers plenty of basses but not guitars, wonder why that is............
  5. NICE i like how you found a medium between a single cut and a double cut, great woods too.
  6. sounds like maybe the paint wasn't fully cured before you tried to polish it, 3m has the best buffing and polishing compounds in my opinion.....but none the less thats a coooool hondo! I sprayed all finnishes with aerosol paint, and cleared it with several layers. I then polished with polish from the same manufacturer as the clear. ←
  7. WOW!!!! looks like it was done with a chainsaw!
  8. yeah the longer strap isnt my favorite either, but its not permanent so its up to the guy i gave the bass to whether or not it stays. i just put it on to help balance it out cause it had a little neck dive.
  9. here a shot of the fiber optics i went with red for this bass, the picture doesnt do it justice
  10. heres a shot of the back of it
  11. heres a full frontal shot, the longer strap pin is to help counter the heavy neck, its about like a fender jazz
  12. Shes DONE. plays great, sounds great, here are some pics of the finished bass, heres a shot of the body. bass is five string lined fretless with a zebrawood body, maple, purpleheart, walnut, african paduak neck, bloodwood fingerboard, mightymite active soapbars, fiberoptic sidemarkers, grover tuners, hipshot bridge.
  13. DEAN guitars = poor craftmanship!! but i have one and love it!!
  14. DONE!!!!! Ill post some pics 2morrow!
  15. i surely hope your pic is exaggerated!! You can get most of that 1mm out when you radius the board, that is if you plan of doing that. youll just notice the fingerboard being thinner at that spot by the nut than every where else. Ive ran into this with the 2 fretless 5 strings ive done but not to that extent. The fingerboards ive been buying are 1/4" so theres a little room for this type of thing. the way i handle it is i sand it rough grit (with a radius block of course I bought the longest one i could) to get it semi flat, than i string it up put tension on it and let it sit over night, adjust the truss to flatten it to my liking ( i usually dont flatten it as much as i would during a setup but close), then i finish my radius sanding.. Ive had good results that way. The main thing is that you really have to stay on top of things with your straight edge...
  16. very nice wood Matt! that necks going to look awesome, some nice flame on that piece! is it going to be a through neck or bolt on?
  17. sprayed 6 more coats during my lunch break today, paint cured nice with the aid of 3 heat lamps. (its cold!) will buff it out 2morrow and finish it up!
  18. heres another shot showing the fingerboard. the bass will get another six coats, more wet sanding, buffing and polishing and then it will be ready for final assembly and setup! heres another shot showing the fingerboard
  19. got it wet sanded last night heres a couple of shots the zebra darkened alot which i like...
  20. ok i found some from status that looks promising, also a company called bunker bass has some nice ones as well any of you guys familiar with either product?
  21. oh yeah!! DIG THAT BROWN CARPET!! i didnt include the pic with my foot in it!
  22. heres a shot of it during mockup it plays nice, it has good sustain and awesome tone, it is a little neck heavy but i expected that (the short horns) and i am working on a solution to that. the bridge is a hipshot (which i had to inlay a bit) and the pickups are mightymites actives, the tuners are grover. i will cut a nut out of bubinga once paint is done
