  1. I think you are refering to the colored series that was available in the late 70s/early 80s and the color was Omaha Orange. I don't think it was anything special other than the color. Lipstick neck and SC bridge/angled. Unless you mean the (here we go on spelling) psychodelic orange. I have not a clue what that color was.
  2. All-factory Jackson with double HBs and no mods. I looked at the setup it came with from a Chicago music store and said "that can't be right". It makes no sense at all but I have NEVER worked on a real or licensed Floyd before. It just shouldn't be like that. IMHO. That's why I need your opinion.
  3. Merit Abrasives Compton, CA
  4. I used the two sites that were generously provided by two members and I cannot leave the intonation settings like they are. It is all goofy. The A string is 1/4" shorter than the D string and the two E strings are the same length. This is the third set of strings I have tried and it keeps coming out the same. I KNOW this ain't right. Never done one before and now I know why. I know, I know, 30 years is a long time to go without working on one of these but that is my situation. If it matters, it's on a Jackson with a locking nut but I haven't even got that far yet.
  5. That is either Dizzy Turner or Ed Roman. Looks a bit like Bill Clinton.
  6. I never heard of them either.
  7. I used to slide surgical tubing over the trem springs but something about the inside of a guitar made it a soft gummy mess after about a year. VERY messy.
  8. Some little kid is REALLY pissed!
  9. No, I hate pedals and all the cables and noise that go with them! If I didn't already have about 20 of them, I would stop using them altogether. There are a very few multi-effect pedals out ther but they never have the ability to do everything at once that I want. Here comes the ridicule part. Feel free to ridicule! I have 2 J-stations that I keep different programs on to use for different type events. I know they are crude old dinasours but they work for me. Still have to carry a RAT distortion unit for playing at a lower volume, like a small bar or barmitzva. While the question is up, what is a good multi-pedal that can do 4 or 5 effects at once with no problems? AND do a good job at all of them? And you don't need to spend 15 minutes reading the programs list to call a new one up?
  10. Aunt Jemima and Ed Roman are the same person! He/she is making syrup AND guitars out of them.
  11. That is why I said it is a misapplication. A nice 10amp 200 volt would have been fine and reliable BUT the shorted tube is what caused the problem so who cares?
  12. I hear ya, Frank, but as a person who has actually made those completely adjustable guitar models to try stupid stuff on I can tell you that some of the most insignificant alterations produce fabulous results. The osillyscope can go play with itself but listening while a pickup is moved, a body-to-pickup connection is changed or string-spacing is changed can make you a believer in micro-adjusting.
  13. Start with a Carvin 7-string neck-through neck. I have bought a few of them and although a bit bland they kinda tell you what to do next. The last one I bought I had NO idea what to do with but that didn't last long. Be very **** about the neck pickup placement cause you can screw up a neck-through with bad (too deep) routing.
  14. As I said, the new tubes were pulling more current for some reason, causing your problems. A bad new tube would be why it was pulling more current. Still would have thought the diodes would have gone first.
  15. Thanks for the quick reply, George. I can't believe there isn't a better guide available but that one will certainly do it. You the MAN!
  16. OK, where do I find the Floyd setup tutorial? I know it's here but I can't find it. Believe it or not, this will be my first one!
  17. Same applies to Pamella Anderson and she blows anything that she can find. Maybe it's the sillycone.
  18. No, I believe the 4007s are the problem and the new tubes are drawing more current, for some reason. They are 2.5 amp @ 1000V and this is a misapplication for them. The two resistors in that circuit are 62k @ 2 watt and that is not what is in the picture. Course, I am going with supplied info, not sompthin I have seen. LK, you got it right! Mesas DO suck a bunch to work on.
  19. Even worse, a tour as PA and sound tech for Barney, the big purple dinosuar, He is a royal PRICK! That's why they call him a tyranosoreass.
  20. Boy, Mesa is a bunch of a-holes about their schematics! Wow! You would think I was trying to date their daughter! Those shouldn't be your bias resistors because they are 2 and 5watt on the 400+. A little better picture MIGHT help but maybe not. There is a tie-point on the scematic of a non-+ that shows they could either be 2 watt resistors or HV diodes. They should not be diodes unless it is part of their standby circuit. Pretty screwed up without a schematic to go by.
  21. Actually, the Fender Noiseless (sic) sets call for a .022 and one should have come with them. Your better choice is to put in the Fender TBX tone control setup to try to get some shape out of these soldiers. The 50vdc is fine. A 5vdc does better for me but Radio Shack don't sell them.
  22. OK, already!!! We GOT it!! You don't have to SHOUT!!
  23. No, no, no, no! If these are just press-in bushings, you need a more stable, centric repair. Heck with glue of any type. I take brass shim stock (about .002-.005) and cut little strips the same width as the bushing is long and wrap it around the bushing until it has to be clamped or tapped in. Cheap and easy and all it takes is a pair of scissors. Easy to remove if it ever becomes an issue.
  24. If the binding is thick enough, does any of this matter? You would end up routing to the neck outline anyhow, wouldn't you? Maybe I missed something (like THAT has never happened before).
