  1. hehe, i like it. its pretty cool. you got an add from me anyway
  2. I dont realy know about how it works but it does sound like a single coil when the vol. pot is pulled up and it does sound like a proper humbucker when the vol. pot is pushed down. Heres the blurb from ibanez I just asumed that there using one of these stacked coils as the single sound.
  3. id actauly wire it in paralel, using a resisitor for each LED, thatway if one of them blow's they dont all go out. its a pretty simple curcuit, i'll go draw one out for you.
  4. I just picked up one of these today and i have to say for a £379 guitar its pretty darn good. Its H-S-S but the humbucker is splitable so i can get a wider range of tones. The humbucker is what Ibanez call a duo-bucker, its a regular humbucker, just one of the coil's is stacked so esentialy its a 3-coil pickup, you use one of the stacked coils as your single coil sound and the other + the normal coil to work as your humbucker. It realy is closer to a true single coil sound than just spliting a humbucker. The neck is a 3pc set-in job with a thickness close to a wizard but not quite (one of the reasons i got this over a RG550, other than the lower price tag), its 22frets on a rosewood board, the set up that the shop did on mine was spot-on, no buzz, and about as low as you could want to go, i can rip this thing up faster than i could on my les paul, which is a good thing. So what do you guys think of this guitar? oh and befor i forget, heres a pic of it. http://www.ibanez.co.jp/eg_l_page.php?PAGE_ID=482&COLOR=CL01
  5. That is insane!! I love it!! Great work, i dont know what im gona do when there finished, cause thoes last pics took my breath away!
  6. My God that guitar is freakin unbeleavably gorgeous, i want one now! Seriously, i go by the same set of rules as drak does, if i went in to a music store and your guitar was there, i would probibly walk out with it. And i dont even like SG's. Great work, i cant wait to see what your other son's get, i am looking forward to that.
  7. Id say ditch the pick guard on this one, then just build another with. 2 guitars are better than 1 right? I like this design, its cool. Keep it up man.
  8. Ok, let me get this right, you want to wire just the LED's to a battery and switch? why not just remove all the LED's and make a series curcuit out of them? You do realise that if you remove the PCB from the curcuit you have they will not flash or do anything fancy.
  9. Nice find, i think it that wood would realy suit a Tele, with humbuckers.
  10. I learnt how to play on an Encore strat knock-off, i sold that as soon as possible and got an epiphone Les Paul studio, i cant begin to tell you how good this thing is for £250, but i think i got lucky, i got one that played nice. You should go in to the store play as many guitars as you can even if you just know how to play 'smoke on the water' and get the one that feels nicest to you.
  11. I really want to give holly a try, but i cant find it anywhere in the uk (in the size i need 2"x7-8"x20") i wanted to use it for my LP top. Do you know anyplace i can get some from? (sorry for the off topic, just thoght i better ask befor i forget) Mahogany neck, pretty standard stuff really. Nice to work with, alot kinder to the blades than my maple was anyway.
  12. I actualy think that when its done if you have band and can record you should do a version, theres bout to be lots of people in bands here so there for we got lots of differant versions of the same song, as style of playing will be differant. If it ends up being a metal song, itd be cool to see a jazz bands interpritation of it. Just a thought
  13. Im liking this already, i have a few ideas id like to try out. I think this could work out quite good.
  14. brilliant idea TS! im up for it!
  15. Just go with it for a while, go with the flow, see how you feel in a few months. I think you should get the guys over to your house, break out a couple of beers and have a good talkk about where you want to band to go, like a good proper talk. I had the same problem, my band was going nowhere, we had a few songs but the singer never turned up to rehearsal, the rythem guitarist couldnt be botherd learning the riffs, the drummer was a jerk. The only people interested in it were me and the bassist, and he got an offer to go to another band, he accepted. I think you just need to find a group that want to do it.
  16. First guitar was a Encore, played that for 2 years, i thought it was great. Then i got my epi, i still have it now, ive never wanted anything else, well wanted anything else enough to save up for ages to get it. I simply dont know what has hapend to Gibson, they seem like theyr trying so hard (with the MAGIC system and what not) but they dont seem to be with it now. Why do they feel the need to make these plywood POS'? Heres what i think, its pure greed. All these little kids want to play gibsons and fenders right? because of the name, fender has the Squire, you can get a basic squier for 70buk with an amp and strap and a tutorial vid. Altho gibson have Epi, there a bit more expensive than squier, so they brought out the spirit so that it can be in the mass market (cause lets face it, way more people go in to toy shops than guitar stores.) so therefor they will sell more of them.
  17. By thoes pics it looks pretty close to my mahogany i have sitting right next to me. Thats brazilian if its any help.
  18. Im scotish, so there for manual for me. Why dont you go down to the dealership, try out the car you want in manual, then try the SAME model just with auto transm? That will give you an iea if you like it or not better than us on a internet forum. Its kinda like tone, its all subjective.
  19. What about Line6? I just played a gig last night with a PODxt into a laney heads power amp through a homemade 4/12, you can get ANY sound you want out of the pod and more. Other than that, check out ebay, my bassist got a 300watt beringer head with a 4/10 cab for 190buk. Bargain. Now all he needs to do is get a 1/15 speaker and build a cab for it. How much are you looking to spend, that will give us a better idea of what will be good for you.
  20. Id like to see just a 1/4 top, it looks classy. But you could do the 1/8th top and backs and do a faux binding effect? That would look stunning also. With the 1/8 the drop top will be easyer to do aswell.
  21. Nice looking bass, i realy like the solution you came up with for hiding the knobs, but still letting them be fully useable. I asume you left the neck pocked part so long so you can cut it down to final size when you actually have the neck in hand?
  22. I really like the look of your second nut, it looks very sleek. Good work, i'll have to get my hands on some of this corian.
  23. www.mysongbook.com www.guitar-pro.com I use the top site for the tabs, the bottom to get the software to veiw them. Its REALY good.
  24. Yes, necks move. Truss rods counter act the movment.
