  1. Just wanted to let you guys know that I got the new Line6 Spider 2 1x12. It's a pretty sweet amp. My friend at work has the original Spider and brought it in and I thought that was cool so I tried the newer model at GC and had to get it. I wanted to get the Flextone III but can't afford it right now, but will probably get it with my tax refund in a few months. I know a lot of people don't like these but for what I need it's great. It's small and loud (75 watts) and gives me lots of different sounds. Anyway, just thought I'd give you an update.
  2. I actually just sold them the other day to someone I work with. Sorry, but thanks for the interest.
  3. I'm hooked on EMGs. Igot the 81/81 setup in my KH2 and the 81/85 setup in my Les Paul DC. When I make my Explorer I will probably end up doing either 85/85 or I might try the 85/60. I was going to do 2 passives with an EMG in the middle but will probably just keep it simple with the 2 EMGs. I also like that 81/81 chrome anniversary set that was mentioned.
  4. Here's my Gibson Les Paul DC after I put the EMG ZW setup in it. It has become my secondary guitar since I got my KH2 but it still rocks.
  5. Too bad mine won't be done for a few months. Oh well, I'll try to get on the next one.
  6. Just wondering if these are any good. I've read some revies and some of them like it better than the Line 6 POD, and it's only $100. Just want something simple and cheap to give me some decent effects, etc... Thanks
  7. Guitar looks great TSL. You and Wes are sure coming along great. It's actually pretty impressive what you guys are doing and hope mine turns out that good. Keep up the great work.
  8. Cool... Have a nice break - You deserve it
  9. I think any of those options are great. I had a Fender Floyd Rose Strat that had a non-recessed Floyd and it was cool. You could only bend forward obviously but it made it easier to tune and re-string. I now have an ESP KH-2 that has the recessed Floyd. It is somewhat harder to tune because the bridge goes forward and backwards (haven't changed strings yet), but with the ability to bend forward and back it sounds a lot better. Plus, once you get it tuned it stays. I also have a Gibson LP DC that I use as my alt tuning guitar. It has a tom/stop tail and I like that too. It's a breeze to re-string, but you can still finger bend if you want the tremelo sound. I think that the hardtail bridges look cool too and do give you more sustain with the strings going through the body. I guess it all comes down to personal preferance. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  10. Looks great... Can't wait to see it finished.
  11. Nice job I really like the swirl and it looks great with those colors. Did you use the method in the tutorial section for that finish?
  12. I went and joined webshots.com. I uploaded some pics into an album and posted them individually, but it didn't work. So I sent an invitation to view the album to myself and copied that link and posted the album. It works... album
  13. In the picture, it has the neck-through neck like I am getting, but they left that the plain maple and just put quilted maple on the wings of the body. I just was wondering if it would look weird on an Explorer body, or if I should just do mahogany wings with no maple top. I just want it to look really nice. Thanks for the link. I've been on that site, but didn't think to go there for that. The one I went to download was about 80MB and would have taken about 3 hours.
  14. I've got the plans on my computer but don't have a cad program to view them. I was going to download a trial but didn't have the 2-3 hours to download it (damn dialup). I'm just kind of gathering everything right now. I'm hoping 1 blank of mahogany will be enough due to the maple neck extension. I just can't wait to get started.
  15. I was looking on Carvin today and saw the guitar on their main page. It's the yellow one below... I was thinking I could do something similar with the Explorer I want to build. I could just have the plain maple neck extension and cover the wings with the figured maple. Just wondering how you guys think it would look. Or if I would be better off just doing the maple with mahogany wings minus the figured maple. Any input is appreciated. Thanks guys...
  16. A lot of people think it's odd having the same pickup in both positions. I have 2 81s in my KH2 and they both sound amazing. You wouldn't think it would be that distinguishable but it is. Try the 2 85s, it should sound great.
  17. I've never tried it, but it seems like you would be able to just paint on them. Not sure if you would have to scratch the cover or anything for paint to stick. I think it just looks cool, because the design doesn't get broken up by the pickups.
  18. The only one I've seen was his KH-2 model with the "Mummy" paintjob on it. But, yeah it's easier to paint EMGs because the whole pickup is covered. Here's some info on the guitar if anyone is interested... ESP KH-2 M-II 'The Mummy' This electric guitar is a ESP signature model which is based upon the ESP M-II serie. Its body is composed of alder, the fingerboard (with 24XJ frets) of rosewood and the neck which is bolt on the body of maple. The bridge is an original Floyd Rose bridge. The body shows the original graphic of the movie "The Mummy" which is staring the actor Boris Karloff as the mummy. On the guitar's left horn there's written in a sort of hand writing font: "It comes to life!" Model: ESP KH-2 "The Mummy" Basis model: ESP M-II Color: Multicolored Color (hardware): Black Inlays: The Eye of Horus Pickups: 2x EMG-81 humbucker Hardware: 2 volume control Graphic: "The Mummy" graphic Can be seen: "Cunning Stunts", "S&M" First time used live: "Load" gigs Still used live This guitar is Kirk's favorite guitar. This guitar can not be ordered at ESP, because Kirk owns the rights of the drawing.
