  1. Can't believe I forgot that one. The only valve I can see has the orangey glow your talking about instead of its normal bluey glow, so I'll change that one with a better quality one.
  2. Sorry, I meant its two or three years old, not two thirds. I had a go plugging into it now and there's no sound whatsoever coming from it, not even the usual slight buzz.
  3. Just before I was playing through my Epi Valve Junior stack (at full volume) when all of a sudden it got really quite and then there was no volume and its the same for all of my guitars. It's not the cable either since the amp makes a 'crackling' sound both when plug into a guitar and with the cable taken out. My other problem is that I don't have another speaker cabinet to try the head with to work out if its a blown speaker or something wrong with the head. It is still under warranty so I can send it back, but I was wondering if there was anyway to tell if it is just a simple fix like replacing a tube or something? Also, the amp is only about 2/3 years old.
  4. Looks good, I'm loving the Zebra Wood!
  5. The cab has a 12" Eminence Lady Luck Speaker and has an open back with mesh covering up the opening. Drak, I can see where your coming from with building a new body and I could easily make a new mahogany body for the guitar in a day or two, but my main concern is the pickups. At the time I built the guitar I didn't have much money so I only spent $20 for a set of some cheap no name pickups off eBay. So I want them to go first, and don't mind spending all that money on BKP, and as you said in another thread, if you don't like them, you can put them up on eBay and get most of your money back. I'm also going to be modding my Valve Junior head in the next few weeks to get it sounding a bit more to my tastes, and also add in bass, treble, gain controls along with a bright switch and a master volume which should get me closer to the tone I'm looking for.
  6. Loving this one. Can't wait for more progress
  7. Oops, don't know why I had Granadillo in there Number 7's not Jarah is it? I don't seem to remember you using it though.
  8. 1. granadillo 3. Yellow Heart 5. Goncalo alves
  9. I've got 9-46 at the moment and I've tried the next size up strings but I didn't like them. So that rules out thicker strings.
  10. I've been playing around with my rig for a while trying to thicken up my sound. At the moment my rig consists of an alder bodied strat with cheap pickups (Going to install some Bare Knuckle Nailbombs in the next few weeks) into a Boss ME30 into in Epi Valve Junior stack. The Nailbombs should thicken up the sound a bit and get me a better tone then the $10 HBs in there now. Although I'm still looking to thicken things up a bit and I'm thinking about some sort of Mid Boost? Which comes to my next problem, how do I go about doing this? Thanks in advance!
  11. Sounds great Muzz! The guitar turned out great
  12. The burl looks great. After looking through the pics I noticed that the bottom of the guitar is a lot darker and doesn't look like the same piece of wood? http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y290/Draa...HORCEDAR028.jpg
  13. Haha, alright, I'll take your word for it then
  14. I suppose that's the final heel shape then? It looks really large and uncomfortable...
  15. Another great build from you! I love your attention to detail and neatness.
  16. This is one of my favorite guitars that I've seen lately. I love the carve and the maple top.
  17. That lapsteel is going to look really cool with the curvy middle piece!
  18. I have a few like that out of some Korean guitar and a few off eBay if you need me to take pics or measurements or anything?
  19. So the ground wire is not actually soldered? Its just squished between the bridge or bridge posts and the body?
  20. I've always had trouble with this. I can never get the bridge hot enough so that the ground wire/ solder will stick to it. I'm mainly talking about Tune o Matics and hardtail bridges (trems are easy since they have the claw). If I heat the bridge up so that the solder will stick, the finish flakes off. It's something that no one really ever talks about and I'm thinking I'm missing something since it seems like such an easy task.\\ So basically, how do you solder the bridge ground to the bridge?
  21. Looking forward to see how this one turns out. Hopefully it goes well like your other build!
  22. Tom Morello's tone is what really got me into playing guitar. Its crazy how he can get such a heavy tone on his strat and tele neck pickups. I also like a lot of Matt Bellamy's live stuff, not so much the recordings though.
  23. I'll second Chad's comment about it looking great! I love the top and the fretboard.
  24. Farout! Got enough computers in there? Looks very busy
