  1. are the LP necks any good? seriously... Isen't SX a rondomusic brand?
  2. for a template too large... would putting tape on the sides be a temporary solution? I have an HB template that's probably a bit too large and i don't have any veneer for it... I only need it for a single guitar, and If i need it again, i'd just make another template from the taped one... But would it work?
  3. anyone tryed to hang a parker on these things yet? I've heard of poeple hanging them by the upper horn... No other choice lol
  4. yup, as long as you spray enough clear so it's over the bumps, it should be alright...
  5. just another question... I just cut my headstock and i can definately see the difference between the cuts and the rest of the headstock... When I finish the neck, will there still me a difference in color?
  6. the upcharge is 30$ and the guy said it would be 1 month build time (and that's with no inlays too)... Naturally, being Carvin, I GOT the neck 3 weeks later. anyways... I'm getting my wood sunday so i'll see then :\
  7. I got my carvin neck it's pretty pale mahogany... I was planning on doing a full mahogany guitar in tung oil. I was wondering if i have any chances of being able to find mahogany the same tint/colour at my wood yard... It's pretty big though and i hope to find some there by bringing the neck. Thanks
  8. complete with a layer of carbon glass composite... That's like a neck that's a full of carbon rods....... A basswood neck wouldn't last more than 5 minutes without reinforcement loll
  9. well... the only difference i can think of would be maybe the coil taps and the "smart switching" jack thingie (wich an LR baggs preamp does) and the only diff with the mojo and another nitefly are the pickups... SDs instead of dimarzios......
  10. yes. use schaller's piezo tom. At universal jems: 82.50$ other than that, you could build the MIMF preamp that does the same thing and won't cost you 80$
  11. bocote should be. It's often used for necks and i BELIEVE it dosen't need a finish (or am I wrong??)
  12. that's what sperzel recommends to do... check on the website, or on their packages!
  13. http://www.parkerguitars.com/code/resour/resour_manuals.asp look for the "original fly wireing diagram" It should be fairly similar...
  14. well, someone named schecter in this thread and all I can say is that I agree completely. I played one of their model that lists at 450$ (http://www.schecterguitars.com/spec.asp?id=61) and I can say it played great... Anyways... Any mahogany bodied guitar will get you at least *that* close to the sound you want... Even if it has a maple neck (zak wylde)
  15. PLEASE don't buy an Epiphone... my friend got an SG-Special and I can tell you that even for a starter guitar it's REALLY bad. You say you have a FAT strat? the ones that are mahogany or alder?? I don't see why if it's mahogany that with good HBs you wouldn't be able to at least get anywhere near slash's sound...
  16. ... Carvin has a LOT of options you won't get online... You just need to call then and ask and they can do it. And btw it's FAR from the first time they do a mahogany neckthrough...... :S
  17. btw, the necks have half off on options, as far as I know too... I just GOT mine and the mahogany option is 60$ and I paid 30$ so...
  18. i'm sorry i'm just BAD with electronics... I'd need to learn that stuff someday... anyways, it seemed to me (from the schems and some talk in mimf forums) that the signals got transformed a bit after going through the blend pot... mixed togheter using a JFET, no? What if I choose to use a blend pot, could I still switch it somewhat?
  19. still, why don't you use their neck they sell alone instead of a kit?? 0_o 140$!! http://www.carvin.com/products/single.php?...er=BN&CID=GTR/K i'm sure you can get it with the lock nut!
  20. ok so i am unsure if I should do this for my guitar... Here's what I'm thinking of doing: 2HBs and 1 piezo... each HB with its own volume and the piezo with one too 1 tone for the HBs 2 three way switches (gibson style) for switching between neck/both/bridge pups and between piezo/both/electric. BTW, anyone knows a source for 3 way miniswitches that would do that?? 2 push pulls (the volumes) for splitting each pickups What i can see as problems... volume swells. If i'm using, say, the piezo and both pickups, i'd have to turn down 1 volume and switch 2 three ways... How do you think this would work? Would it be managable in gigs... Thanks!
  21. bah it probably does a little difference... Perhaps not enough so we can hear it, but it looks good so why not?
  22. The new carvin necks are 12" radius... the same as most t-o-ms btw, carvin sells their bolt on neck alone too... and you probably CAN have options on them... I have my brand new Carvin neck in hand and i ordered it in mahogany and with no face dots... It's just beautyful (they even installed a peghead veneer of FIGURED mahogany!!! And it's 2 pieces laminated, too) and it only cost me 30$ more! btw, the little step under the fretboard measures to about 3mm and to the top of the fretboard it's 6 or 7 mm... Hope that awnsers your questions!! Just one last thing... I haven't tryed the neck on anything yet (just got it...) but i can tell you that from the looks of it, it's perfect... It just looks great!!
