  1. well, i think they're cool! Some of their other models are really nice!!! The "carving" is what i'm gonna have on my guitar... sides completely round I actually think them to be quite intelligent... First off, they are simply 1 piece neck-through with wings attached to them, only instead it uses "ribs" to attach them lol. They're also symmetrical... Easy left handed models BTW, the hollow-body wings are made from polymer... dunno how that sounds thoug
  2. man, if you don't mind "alternative" stuff, go with an Ovation. try one out thoug. It's a love/hate thing! You'll either hate or love those i just LOVE mine even compared to guitars 2x its price... Probably just me lol (inlanely low action... at least now that i removed a few shims) =D
  3. if youre looking for A/E, try to check out Ibanez... I was kinda surprised by my friends guitar (470$ CDN)
  4. hey man, how deep have you recessed your ToM, and how high is your fretboard? thanks mate, and nice job!!
  5. First, you aint gonna get a metal sound with a strat. The only way i could think of would be for you to change your bridge pickup for something like a JB jr. or a lil' 59... what's funny is that my Boss metal zone gives a very nice non-metal sound! I can get almost the same sound than Santana in "black magic woman" with it lol!
  6. Drak, you've been a stealth luthier for too long. Try one of those hosts (all are free) http://www.spimagehost.com/ (50 MB) http://freephotohost.us (200 mb) http://www.imagecabin.com/ try that, and if you need something else tell me... or just ask on www.freewebspace.com forums!
  7. the point wasen't only to speak about THOSE guitars... But you probable have alredy seen an uncarved double cut (les paul DC junior...)? Ugliness is assured lol. one thing is for sure, any figured wood should be ALWAYS carved
  8. Ok, yesterday i was thinking about this: I always found the front of a strat to be really ugly. BUT looking at one from the back it did look not so bad. I mean, it looked even a little shred-ish... So what do you think about that... Can carving a body make or break a design, or not? I understand a Tele with a carved top would (probably) be ugly, but still... I found a great example of what i'm saying here. This compagny's designs are pretty much the standard stuff you'll find everywhere (the LP clone and the PRS type thingie...) BUT looking at it my first impression was that it was sexy and ORIGINAL! The outline is the same as those guitars, but it really looks great. Warrior Instruments Example: http://www.warriorinstruments.com/gallery_...07_files/3d.jpg
  9. VERY nice work, but myself i don't like that little space for controls... could work out if it wasen't so big and obvious, but i don't like it that way. Only thing i don't like thoug Anyways, if this is your 2nd guitar, you're REALLY talented!!
  10. Just so you know, on that site there are also, for some pickup models, some # of turns to wind the pickups!
  11. aww cmon! post pics!!! this should be cool! what is that mysterious petrucci switching? (and the jack thingie is it for having the jack mono/stereo??)
  12. one thing thoug... one should not have to dig through 50 pages to get to the actual glossary! so maybe have a 1st post always edited?
  13. usually, poeple tend to say that bolt ons have a little more "snap"... But nothing beats the heel of a neck through!
  14. yup, all options available for their guitars are avalaible for the necks... i'm getting one without inlays (10$ more...) i THINK you have to call and ask for options... I am myself interested in how much having it made in mahogany would cost...
  15. NOTHING has more style than an explorer!!! Nothing, i say! now for the SG and strats, there's nothing i can say...
  16. what about cutting the slots for those?? lol... good luck
  17. Well, Octavarium is one of the best CDs i heard in a while. Say what you will, i found it really great, if only a little too comercial... Weird thing for Dream Theater no? I walk besides you could actually maybe play on radio!! I understant many DT fans will hate that CD, as all CDs are completely differents... Shredders will never like this album since it aint no shred fest... There's about 2-3 solos that are technical. Myself, being a fan of them because of Scenes from a memory, i really prefer their "calmer" stuff so this one is just great for me! You did not quite get the POINT of the album? First, its 24 mins. Second, 24/3= 8... Octa is a prefix for 8 btw... now, if you listen to the Octavarium song closely, you will realise it consists of 3 different songs each EXACTLY 8 minutes long. Some of you will say this is something keeping them from making a good song, but i don't think anyone will say the 8th song of this album is bad? and btw. Most of you seem to hate the way James LaBrie sings... I REALLY like it personally, thoug i could understand some poeple would not like it. BUT, think about what it would be like if they had a singer like whoever does the "singing" in Children of Bodom... (got that guy's aweful...) anyways, to each his own Dream Theater CD... There's no way there's not one you'll like
  18. hmm dunno... i don't like the lower horn. Looks too tiny and fragile lol
  19. maybe that the pickup is hearing a tremolo spring?? try to dampen the springs with your hand and see if that stops it.
  20. great job! i KNEW that it would someday get liscenced! It HAD to!! well, this is a good lesson in perseverance.
  21. wow... just a GREAT finish!! even thoug i don't like that shape (explorer ripoff... kinda like those ESPs. Nothing is like the "real" explorer shape ) that guitar looks really cool! great job, as usual
  22. man, where do you get all that spalt?! that stuff looks nice!
  23. Hey man, your stuff looks NICE do you have any idea how much shipping to canada would be for a top set?? thanks
  24. yeah, ive seen a few with TAILPIECES!! man these are cool... i'm starting to dig that shape...
