  1. That's actually quite cool. Might wanna shield the inside of that if you actually plan on using it :s S
  2. Right. Morley wahs. Goto their webshite (its a bit rubbish), they have all the schematics on there. If memory serves me, the pro series wah is the same as the bad horsies etc etc. Now, goto Geofex (geofex.com imaginatively) and search for an article called the technology of wah pedals. Down there there is a section that kind of explains how the circuit in a morley works (although it never refers to it by name). The actual circuit is very simple its just your basic wah type circuit with some fancy FET switching linked to the pedal position. What kind of 'mod' are you hoping to achieve? Let me know and i might be able to point you in the right direction. I made a remake of this circuit to be controlled by a remote pedal (ie to go in a rack) so have a bit of experience with it. Cheers S
  3. Don't lamborghini make more tractors than sports cars? Sorry. S

    Clean Amps?

Mesa boogie lonestar Or failing that. A boogie Mark 4. In my opinion the best clean sound full stop. S
  5. As long as you wire them correctly there's no problem there. As long as you don't want any funky wiring, the wiring section on the dimarzio website should give you all the info you need. Only thing is your middle and bridge p'ups are hum-cancelling. and forgive me if i'm incorrect (i've never had or looked at one) the YJM ain't! maybe a humcancelling one would be worth it for a nice rounded package? Oh, if you like satch, check out the Mo'Joe. Its a personalised fred for satchie-boy S
  6. dunno how good a YJM would be in the neck. But i suppose it depends on the sound you're after. Thing you have to remember with pickup selection is there is no 'right and wrong'. It will always work... just may not give the sound you're after! Give us an idea of the sound you're after and people might be able to advise more. But to be honest, the dimarzio website gives about the best advice anywhere! S
  7. Thing with 5 way switches is there are loadsa different types. Best way... Find the tag on the switch that is going to go to the HOT output (ie to the volume) in the position you want say... the bridge pickup to be active... and solder the bridge pickup lead to it. Those diagrams get a bit confusing unless you have an identical switch. S
  8. gun stock oil, same as any other oil finish gets dirty. It needs regular TLC, but the effect of a neck as smooth as a babies backside can be worth the regular upkeep. Just get some fine wire wool, remove the neck and get too... then get some more oil and reapply with some more wire wool and then smooth to babies backside grade with a polishing rag S
  9. I'll stick my head out. I like the cream... Its a bit.... Different.... S
  10. Just be careful! Flat top LED's are usually the best thing to use S
  11. White Spirit. I think it should work... Its a few years since i've done any hardcore chemistry S
  12. One small thing, Are you sure you can tap the fernandes driver? S
  13. Yeah, HTey're usually alright after they've had a little work done to them. In my opinion, if you want a decent out of box axe, go for yamaha or PRS SE in this price range.
  14. To be honest, I've looked into pickup winding in the past, and i decided it wasnt worth the bother. A few reasons... I can get the sound i want with a bought pickup, or alter the sound with a bit of thought easily enough. The cost of the parts to make a pickup adds up to almost the cost of a bought pickup anyway. Especially when you figure in costs of wire etc etc blah blah. Give you an example, looking at the cheapest places for all the bits and bobs i came upto a good $35 per pickup. Plus shipping. Made me think i'd rather spend the extra few bucks and buy a dimarzio Just my opinion. I'll probably give it a try sometime, but its just at the moment i dont have the money to throw at it S
  15. if you look at this page: http://www.morleypedals.com/downloads2.html Theres a couple of old manuals for things that look kind of similar... like a wah pedal with a pick attached? Any use? S
  16. Small point, the regulator isnt the problem. If it was, it still wouldnt work with a battery as the input voltage is 9v (or there abouts) with the PSU or the battery, and the regulator (to get down to 5v) would be needed in both cases. Rated current draws on bottoms of pedals are hardly ever accurate. But....... I was looking for a dd-3 schematic to see how the regs are wired etc... and came across this.... http://www.stinkfoot.se/andreas/diy/articles/bossadapt.htm Bottom of page might be interesting to you S
  17. First things first. Check your connections. Are you plugged into the right jacks etc. Does it work with a battery? (again, you said the LED works with the PSU, so if this works the PSU aint pumping out enough juice) Check the unit with a mates PSU. (if it works, you're PSU aint pumping out enough juice ) If the LED comes on, its not a problem with the power jack, its probably something inside the unit or the PSU. But bear in mind, just because the PSU says its good for 300ma output, it doesn't mean it is. As it works fine with the other (lower power) pedals, i'd say the psu aint pumping out enough juice. If you want a new one, the godlyke power all is good (1.7A output ) S
  18. Can do whatever really. But use a battery box! makes changing the damn things easier. If you wire em up separate then its easy enough. Wiring up wo same battery is easy too... just split each wire from battery box in two and wire it as you would with two batteries S
  19. right.... wire the sustainer up as per its manual. then, wire the output that would have gone to the jack from the sustainer circuit to the input of the modboard (and the ground tot he input ground on the modboard), then wire the output from the modboard to the jack as per the modboard manual. Hope that makes sense. If you're still having toruble i'll draw it up for you. S
  20. Its quite simple, you just have the controller set up so it sends the right commands to change presets on all your gear. The amount you can control if pretty much infinate if you know what you're doing with it. As far as controllers go, they tend to be quite expensive. The only cheap one with a decent feature set is the behringer FCB1010. Otherwise the price kind of jumps quite quickly. Rocktron stuff, as always is very good. They have a nice little up/down controller for about $80 if that floats your boat, otherwise their all access controller is well used by the pros. Also check out axess electronics and skrydstrup (i think i spelt that right). Although i'd only bother with these two if you are seriously minted Or if you're a DIY'er check out www.midibox.org S
  21. you just need to piggy back the modboard onto the connection that would be to the jack and connect the power supply to both powered parts. I havent got any experiance with modboards, so i cant tell you a huge amount. but if its anything like the other boards guitarfetish used to sell then that's the way to do it. s x
  22. I'd get a separate preamp and effects unit. Gives you more choice. Mesa Boogie Triaxis is very good and veeery programmable to the point where it can be a pain. Marshall's JMP-1 is also pretty good if you like marshalls and may be more up your street if you want 'vintage' sounds. Any unit by TC electronic is good for the effects part. The G-Major is probably the best value for money. If you want an all in one, look at line 6, Rocktron etc. Other makes to look at are things like Engl (hard to get hold of)& ADA (only 2nd hand though now - The MP-1 is the choice). Hope that's of help S
