  2. hmm.... i guess i will definetly buy a high pressure gun then. any suggestions for a gun on a 200$ buget? i already have a compressor i just need a good humidity filter and gun
  3. looks nice i love the top! one question, is the top carved under the fret board? in the pic it looks that way?
  4. hey looks nice! i like the contrasting woods, and i like the shape of the v good work! ps now that your done it, go buy some new sneakers i saw them in one of the pics, boy are they ratty! but hey money is for one thing................buying more guitar stuff! screw the sneakers!
  5. its what i do for all my templates! its great you just route the pick ups in last. i also just put them any where on the body for when i do the guitar back cause its just two kittle screw holes that then will be covered by the maple carved top! i use tape sometimes if i have to but i trust screws! then you know it wont move! and make sure you counter sink them so the router lays nice and flat! ive been using some pickguard cover screws that are like 5/16 or something they work great and you always have them laying around! if you do you template routing in diferent stages you can have each template with srews in the spot where yoo;;e be routing next! for example, first you route the main body so put one in the neck area and the bridge pickup and the control cavity, then after that do the neck rout so put them in the other two spots, and so on..... then you only need to use the tape for the pickup routes. thats my tip for the day! im spent..... ps i do the same for my neck templates also!
  6. OK listen go to www.rockler.com , they have a great selection of tools and some smaller exotic woods and all kinds of fun stuff. buy a router template guide set! there not that much$ they are excactly 29.99$ for a whole set of them!!! just buy it ! they are very useful. and also for holding down the template(depending on how big it is, you could mount little screws in were the pups go.
  7. most of my guitars are ok when it comes to the microphonics and stuff, but my prs soapbars hum a little bit when im on either the bridge or the neck. i figured they do because they are a single coil, when it is on both they dont hum cause it cancels out, but if i dip them do you think it would take all the hum away? its not a bad,or loud hum, but i wouldnt mind trying the wax potting . it looks fun! ps. anytime there is melting or burning involved,im into it! im a huge pyro! but ive never blown up yet!
  8. make sure you protect the body of the guitar also, you wouldnt want to nick it or something, id just use a small forstner bit but make sure you dot go to deep and the tip of the bit goes through!
  9. cool tutorial, but why do you wax pickups? ive never done it before, but ive heard about it. what is the reason for doing this? and also what tempature is good to have the wax at?
  10. hey very cool! is this product what he uses for all his finishes or is it just for the solid colored finishes?
  11. scott, yo all ya gotta do is ask! i love stripping guitars!its fun! but i do it with heat. its much easier and you dont have to worry about chemicals. as far as the neck we could work around the numbers and headstock. sometimes you can re-punch the numbers if you have a puch set wich i think i do, so it shouldnt be a problem. I'll send ya an email maybe we could do it this weekend.
  12. Man thats a real bummer. im sorry to hear about your cliant. maybe i'll just stick to tung oil finishes for a while!
  13. i have a theory! aliens created them so that whoever plays it can be easily abducted and then they will have a test subject!, be afraid be very afraid!
  14. that relic is sweeeeet! i liked the tele to but i had to go with the relic!
  15. the projects im working on have mahogany necks and i love the feel of tung oil on maple, but ive never done a mahogany neck. how is it? im thinkin of tung oiling the entire guitar. i just had to use this guy for something, he so cool!
  16. looks good! like usual hey could you maybe do a tutorial on inlaying using metal? i like the gold trim on the head stock. id like to start doing some with silver but i havent the fogiest idea how? a tutorial would be greatly appretiated!
  17. ive heard some things about them? wiplash? sounds fishy to me
  18. i practice the art of sizing up the oponent! if hes puny i dont worry much, if hes big a hope and pray that i can run faster!
  19. so i'd like to get a mesa dual rectefier, but i just cant do it unless i sell my other 2 the msea dc-5 is a fifty watt 1x12 combo that rocks! its got awsome sound and i dont really want to sell it but i gotta. its in great shape i have an extra set of sovtec tubes and a cover, and foot switch. dont be affraid of it being a 1x12 this thing is plenty loud! i only go to about 3 at most during loud practices but i usually dont play that loud! its got an effects loop, asignable EQ, and just an awsome beutiful sound. the carvin is great also, its got a really nice overdrive channel, but i used it for my clean channel. its 100 watts tube this thing is frikin loud too!!! i only used it through a 2x12 cab. its got effects loop, a switch for 100% 50% 25% output, 5 band EQ,its nice. i think its the same one that steve vai used to use before they made him the legacy model. if anyone is interested let me know, i gotta sell both to get the rectefier just shoot me an email. or if someone has a dual retifier head and would be interested in a trade let me know. thanks
  20. does it have to be completed? i need to put a finish on my hollow body still and i need to buy pups for it. but can i just enter the guitar anyway? or should i wait and just try to win guitar of the month when its complete?
  21. i like corian, i only have it in white, but you can get it in any color you want, plus its close to the same density as bone but it doesnt smell like bone at all. the color thing is cool cause then you could match the body for a little more "custom"look. it easy to work with also
  22. as far as hum and electronics, im not sure? you could put a thin piece of some material that is not conductive between the bridge and body, but make sur that its a solid and not soft. are you gonna use the diamond plated aluminum? that would look really cooool!
  23. yeah i learned the hard way when i was younger! no more bondo for me!!!!!!
  24. if its a hot rod from stewmac, and it adjusts at the head stock, make it so the alen hade or hex head of the rod is just pass where the nut will be, and you dont want it pertruding past the headstock material.it needs to be able to be cover with a truss rod cover. to hold it in place, i use alittle bit of latex caulk at the two brass screw blocks on the rod.so that it sets in that inside the channel, this also keeps it from rattling. show us some pics? it will be easier to help ya
