  1. Ive always used only 3 springs....never had any problems.
  2. he says what you are getting in the first line; One 'vintage' guitar decal. For $16...I dont think so.
  3. I shoved the tip of my thumb into an 18" wheel sander w/40 grit paper on it. Ground the tip all the way to the bone! It grew back but now I have a pretty good scar for a thumb tip and boy is it sensitive!
  4. I need to know...where are you getting this quilt??? Its stunning... nice work!! Im glad you decided to stick out 'round these parts.
  5. Use the search button...or the main page of this site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. I say just go for it. You cant hurt anything by removing a pickup- and then putting it back in. Just watch out for the wiring. You are correct, experience never hurts so just dive in..
  7. Im in the process of setting up a radial-arm saw method. I was lucky to score a really nice saw for $50 from a friend. My father is fab'ing me a table top with a 90 degree fence on it as I type this. Once I get it all going I will post some pics, but it is the same exact idea that you have there.
  8. I don’t mean to sound like a dick...but.........wow.....If you cant figure out how to mount a pick-up by your self I don’t think you will even stand a chance at comprehending the things they will teach you at a luthier school.
  9. I do see that, but it looks like it may just be a stain.
  10. If you are going to just assemble it...then CALL warmoth. They will help you get the right neck and body.
  11. That thing looks questionable...... The cut out on the end is not centered and the heel does not look sqaure at all.
  12. I believe some one might even say, 'A real cornucopia of knowledge'.......
  13. yeah thats what I thought..... I havent ventured into the realm of set-necks yet.
  14. Say Im making guitars with no neck angle and I have a pin router and template. There would be no need for one of these, correct? Very nice jigs you guys made here.
  15. That looks like a router bit to me.....
  16. I picked up some Birdseye maple, Ive never worked with it before. I laminated 2 pieces of it with a slap of Purple Heart down the center for a neck. The maple has ALOT of eyes on it. Are there any tips or tricks for working with it? The guy at the wood store told me I couldn’t plane it because the eyes rip out...and I thought yeah whatever. But he wasn’t BS'ing. I’ve started to get a bit of the eyes tearing out when I hand plain it, but then again I don’t have the best hand plan. Also, the reason I laminated the Purple Heart in the middle is because I’ve heard that the Birdseye can be a bit unstable at times and may have a tendency to warp. I’ve had this Purple Heart for a while and it is straight as an arrow and rock hard so I figured it might help out a bit in keeping it all together. So I was just wondering how some peoples experiences with Birdseye are?.
  17. So how is it coming??? Im building an RG/JEM right now also.
  18. Is there a tutorial for this anywhere?
  19. Hhahahahaha... Thats totally me!! Black Pants, Black T-shirt everyday. Friends call it my uniform!
  20. On the Wayne Guitar shop tour, Wayne never routes the neck-pocket, yet he talks about it. One scene he’s standing there talking about how the guitar body is finished ready to go to paint, yet no neck-pocket. Then in the next video it’s in the spray booth and the neck pocket is routed. Does any one have an explanation of this? I was just wondering as I’ve been using allot of shop tour videos and tutorials and references. I mean it may just be a simple thing as they didn’t do it for purpose of saving time on the video.. I don’t know, was just wondering if there is a real reason for it.
  21. That is just way to much $. Considering I have the clamps allready, access to a punch press to make the inserts, and wood and the tools for the cauls.. I think Ill save myself a bit-o-cash!!!
