  1. I'd like to thank everyone who voted for my little 'ukulele. I'm suprized it did this well, that really shows you guitar builders/players aren't stuck up like luthiers/players of other stringed instruments can be (this is based on what I've seen on other instrument forums). I wonder how my violin will do........
  2. Why do you want to tune the low E an octave higher than usual, and how, without breaking it? I'm confused.....
  3. THIS THREAD has some very good points as to why YOU NEED A TRUSS ROD.
  4. Mono rails are those 'indy' bridges, right? There are some right here for cheap: http://mailboxmusic.zoovy.com/product/BBR_MRGD I've used them on a bass, they were nice.
  5. Very nice, I like 'naked' fingerboards too, they look sleak. Nice woods on the body. I still don't like the neck joint, however, from the pictures it just doesn't flow, or look right, kinda 'squared'. You should have done something like this (not the scooping, but the smooth transition), but that's just my opinion, and it's not my guitar. EDIT: Nevermind, I guess if it's just a regular set-neck you can't blend the heel like Perry did.
  6. Depends on what it is and where its going. Do you have a request or suggestion on how I may be able to improve the way I pack. I am always happy to take good advise. On the contrary - I'm looking for TIPS. I may sell some wood off I don't think I'll be using, and I'm not sure how to package it.
  7. Meant to ask this in the other "Jeff Thread", but it got closed..... Jeff contacted me, probably a year ago, with a proposition wanting to know if I'd want to go into business with him. He didn't say exactly what would be entailed, I assumed 'gutar' building, so I promptly replied stating I wasn't interested. I was mainly wondering if he contacted anyone else with the same idea.......?
  8. How are you packaging the wood?
  9. A professional acoustic guitar builder friend of mine swears by these Canadian made mallets made by "Cluthe". He's only EVER seen three, however, he owns two 8oz ones and I picked up a 16oz one at the flea market....I have yet to use mine for fretting, though.
  10. "Both guitars will become collestor's items. Not only because of the low number, but because I will not be using imbuia again." Hahaha. Great line!
  11. Here's his website, some pics are still on it: http://litchfieldguitars.tripod.com/home/index.html
  12. You're not necessarily late. I think your allowed to enter an instrument up until Brian closes the thread and starts a poll, which he is sometimes late doing. I'd enter it right now if I were you, I doubt Brian would have a problem....the more instruments the better, makes the voting funner.
  13. What do you mean? Do you want to submit this for the Guitar of The Month contest? Post it here if so: http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=16745
  14. Yes it is. I looked around alittle on Canada's patent website because I had an idea for something and my friend said it was only a couple hundred dollars to patent something......WRONG!!!!!!! It was thousands. $2000 alone to have the governor general look over and approve your patent, not to mention a yearly fee that increases evey few years for 20 years, and nasty penalties if you miss the payments, from what I recall, as well as paying a patent attorney......
  15. I was thinking the same thing. I think Performax is around 1725RPM....not to mention those little planers aren't wide enough to really be useful.
  16. This is an article from the Pacific Woodwrokers Guild, beginning on the fourth page down http://pacificwoodworkersguild.com/Docs/Ne.../Mar2004web.pdf I already have a thicknesser, but I found this interesting.
  17. That makes no sense. He may as well make complete guitars....
