  1. Build your own thing, mate. No one else will sound like you, look like you, and if you don't make bad mistakes, you'll easily forget any mass produced 'wonders'.
  2. While the top of an acoustic's (and archtops are originally designed to be plain acoustics) got to be flexible to resonate, the sides and back are act like the 'mirror' of the sound. Therefore you should use stiff and hard woods (or - alternatively - other materials), the tradition is maple for archtops, but rosewood would be even better, if I think about a comparsion of maple and rosewood sided flattops; the maple sounds a bit lifeless to me, but it's just a matter of taste. If you go for mahogany: it's one notch softer, thus it's gonna damp the sound more, giving a characteristic woody resonance, which I personally don't like that much, 'cause it's kinda rugged sounding on flattops and dobros to me.
  3. I like them both, but the steel guitar-like sound of the Tele's just so damn lovely... Strat is more like a functional and versatile tool - Tele is the real passion.
  4. Dunno, I play a lot with pinky, 'cause I learned to play this way, someone who began without it, could play the same things, probably with a different flavor. But if you want to force that, keep playing those basic 4-notes-on-a-string scales and might add some arpeggios to get used.
  5. Love 'em both, but not in the same time.
  6. Both look ugly, but the Epiphone's uglier IMO.
  7. WOW, that's one killer guitar. Though I'm pretty sure they could safely shape that heel even smaller than this.
  8. But if it's a neck-through what do you want to do with that heel?
  9. Yea, especially if your name is McGuyver.
  10. 14 yrs old kids are sooo mature lately... and they moan truly!
  11. So they rumour, you've been planning a soloette copy since you went ten days without an axe on vacation, right?
  12. I got problems with my knees too. Too much begging hurts.
  13. ...But when she gets weary Try a little tenderness...
  14. Fast barre chords are a pain to play on it though...
  15. So you talk about logarithmic pots?
  16. Since I don't use any picks, I used to finger a note then I put the index finger of my picking hand onto the place that is 1/2 of the fingered fret to bridge distance, then I pick the string with my thumb.
  17. That whole green thing is damn cool.
