A guitar I'm fixing at the moment is having a problem with squealing pickups. I don't know what to do. It has a hss configuration. I waxed the humbucker just in case. The control cavity is sheilded. I'm just wondering could it be the volume pot. I sprayed contact cleaner in it and apparently the squeal was gone for a couple of minutes but it returned. Anyone have any ideas why this would happen?

Well, if you want to coil tap and you want EMG's, try the 89's. They sound like an 85 normally but they can be tapped. Hazzah.

Then you've just made a dod 250 overdrive or an mxr distortion.

I put one into my bass and I can just about get clippage when I hit the strings fairly hard. I've only gotten a tiny bit of clipping from my guitar so far. Haven't tried my EMG's with it yet. So far however, I'm not particularly impressed.

Hey Brian, just wondering, would one work on my EMG's? I know it says don't use them on active pickups but still, with the amount of output coming from them, they would clip wouldn't they?

I find with my 85, if you just roll the volume back a bit, it's bloody lovely. Lovely bluesy tone.

Best pick I ever used was Kirk Hammet's pick from his S&M gigs :-) The Metallica and S&M logos made for a great grip.

That's cool wes, cheers. It doesn't have to be an Edge but I'd like a 7 string Floyd Rose type trem with Piezo's. The only one I can think of actually is the Ernie Ball John Petrucci 7 string model.

Nice Idea, but 1)I doubt I could afford to do that and 2)I can't seem to find any 7 string Ibanez's with Double Edge trems :-( Custom guitar idea crumbling

Whoops, my bad. I thought when you say is £35 a good price, you wanted to know in dollars. I doubt it's a 20' long piece of mahogany for that price! And craft-supplies is more like a model ship providers I think.

Mate, how long is a piece of string? The website is horribly unclear. Your best bet is probably to email them and ask how big it is. And I can't comment on the price because I don't know how big the piece is. Also, try XE to convert currency.

Metal finishing for Aluminum Body

Derek dude, I must call for a tutorial on doing that. Looks bloody savage. Would be great for recessing strap pins, especially Dunlop Strap Locks.

Does anyone know where to buy a 7 string Double edge Trem (with the piezo's) on the internet? I've looked and I can't find anywhere. Any idea how much they cost?

I haven't done it and I basically don't know anything about it, but it would make sense to me to inlay the piece into the body after spraying the colour but before the buffing of the colour, if that's right. Then again, that could be completely wrong.
