  1. Try Danish oil. It's very easy and pretty much foolproof.
  2. If you plan on putting two humbuckers in your guitar I'd use the Jimmy Page wiring. If you're using 3 single coils I'd go for the Brain May wiring. Both will give plenty of sounds and are a bit different from the standard wiring on most guitars.
  3. I've got a guitar I wired without a tone pot. I left out the capacitor on volume control so that when I turned down the volume is sounded like the tone was being turned down as well. A lot of people leave the tone on 10 all the time anyway so it won't sound odd if you leave it out. I recently wired the same guitar with 3 humbuckers using a 5 way switch. It sounded OK but I found positions 2 and 4 can sound horrible with the wrong pickups, I think you'd get more verastile sounds using a single coil in the middle. The 3 pickup Les Pauls use a 3 position switch and are wired: Position 1 - Neck Position 2 - Neck and Middle Position 3 - Bridge
  4. That is a very interesting idea for a guitar, I guess the only problem would be if you want use a different tuning, but that is the same for Floyd Roses anyway.
  5. Have you found suppliers of the pickup parts? I found that finding the bits was just as hard as actually building the pickup! Sounds like a good design though, good luck!
  6. It'd be good if you could get more pics if you ever make another.
  7. http://www.schaller-guitarparts.de/1216.htm Why do you need fine tuners on a fixed bridge? Is it easier to tune accurately or are they just to look good?
  8. If they're are all noisy it's probably the cable, replace that first to check.
  9. USA and UK grades seem to be the same
  10. I wonder how much the machines cost. 10,000's I'm guessing.
  11. Does any remember back in '95 Peavey released an acoustic guitar with a trem. Did anyone ever play one and what happened to them? The idea was obviously not very successful. Jon
  12. And this was the link: http://www.instituteofnoise.com/forum/topi...55&whichpage=14
  13. Somebody posted a link a few weeks ago about a guy who transplanted the Variax electronics into a warmoth tele body. It looked and sounded very cool, so much better than line 6's ugly original.
  14. Does it sound good? I've been thinking about getting one of those amps myself. Jon
  15. Yeah, love that inlay.
  16. Could you email the jpeg to j789j789@hotmail.com Thanks!
  17. I went tool shopping today. I picked up a pair of wire cutters for £3 that are designed for cutting off the top of old nails and screws so they are flush. I had a try with them and they look like they should do the job for cuting fret ends.
  18. Looks like humbuckers are most popular so far.
