Have been able to work on this a lot for a couple of days now and the body is almost finished. Something I didn't consider when deciding on body thickness was that the three way switch needed a lot of depth to fit in the body, But I was able to rout out 2mm extra and now it fits nicely phew! Now I need to finish up the neck I'm really excited to string this up ?

Well if the bit is really dull it won't even make a hole, just harden the surface even more. eventually you will just break the bit but that's when drilling in harder materials like stainless steel. @Norris Really nice build and a neat trick with the coin, Think I will steal that one ?

Absolutely stunning work, totally love the fretboard on the first one. Really amazing wood you got there, that quilted maple must be one of the best pieces I've seen in a long time.

Never been a big fan of headless guitars, but I must say this is a piece of art

The tuners and bridge arrived this week, still waiting for the pickups though. Shaping of the guitar is all most finished. Soon I will just have to work my way thru the grits and this will be done for finishing

Thanks, yes quite colorful just hoping the purpleheart stays bright for awhile and don't turn brown and boring directly.

Allright got some more work done today. Made the neck pickup rout and continued with some more carvings. Still got a lot of the work left smoothing out the carves but I think you get the idea.

Yeah I think I will make some more carvings. I did some weight relief before gluing all the pieces together but forgot to take any pictures on that part ? the weight is at the moment at 2,8 kg

Agree on that if you spray a little to thick at any point the color will just turn plain white directly.

Thank you Scott, feels good working on this project again. I also prefer carves on both sides but sometimes less is more, maybe have to try on some scrap first. Haven't really decided on the what bridge and tuners to use yet but Schaller 3d-6 in vintage copper do look very interesting ?

Been really busy the last couple of months just bought a house and all of the work that comes with it. But been able to work on this project the last couple of weeks and it starting to look quite nice. Finally got the body together and started with some carvings but don't know if I should carve the other side or leave it like this? Any suggestions?

Well what I did was dyed the maple black and sanded it back. When spraying the white I mixed about 1/5 Olympic white with clear and sprayed very thin layers.

Yes, some weight relief is going to be needed, also some carving that will show all the different layers of wood.

When i was in the finish stages of the "Olympus" i started planning my next build. I haven't decided on all of the specs yet, but the idea is a neck thru with 25,5 scale with a hardtail bridge. Flamed maple/purpleheart/snakewood neck, the body will be a nice sandwich of black limba, purpleheart,wenge and cocobolo, hopefully it will turn out as planned. This is what i got so far, the cocobolo piece is huge and weigths about 13 kg so it will hopefully be enough for some future builds. I made a quick cad drawing of the design, still haven't decided if i will go along with that headstock yet. All comments on this project is welcome.

Looking forward to see this builds, I really like the black and white fretboard those thin black lines going to be really stunning when finished. that padaouk also looks quite amazing, but how will that change over the years? will it still have that amazing vibrant color or will it turn to more brownish?

Let's call this one "Olympus" This one is a multiscale hollowbody, and it's built for my personal use. Specs: Scale: 25,5 - 26,5 Body: three piece sandwich with top and bottom in flamed maple, middle piece is red alder. bindings made of claro walnut and black and white ebony with abalone purfling front and back. soundhole bindings is black ABS with abalone purfling. Neck: flamed maple with black and white ebony fretboard, claro walnut binding and abalone purfling. Headstock inlay made of polished brass with abalone leaves Pickups: 2 humbucker pickups, Lundgren "Smooth operator" (neck) and Lundgren "The one" (bridge) Bridge: ABM 3210G Tuners: Gotoh Electronics: CTS pots, one volume and one tone, switchcraft pickup selector. Thank you for the kind words, those are ABM singles, also made a matching set of pickup covers in flamed maple but don't know if i will use them. I haven't really had the time to try it out that much yet. I had to leave for work and im not home until the weekend hopefully i can try it out a little more then. maybe i will try to GOTM this

So got this thingy stringed up this weekend, other then a few high frets that need to be fixed she is done! It took alot more hours then i thought in the beginning but im really happy with the result.

Allright, got some stuff done frets have been leveled and crowned, just finished with wet sanding and is fresh of the buffer turned out really nice and shiny! Just need to finish the pickup rings and we're soon ready to get this playing.

Love the grain on that piece.
