  1. We can make a guitar body blank out of most any wood and we do state to contact us about other woods. Alder and Mahgoany are the everyday woods. A Basswood blank would not be any cheaper than a Alder blank. 90% of the blank orders are not ordered directly through the site but are custom with tops or extra long/custom shapes.
  2. You can make a guitar body out of many different kinds of wood. But why not just use traditional guitar wood like Alder or Mahogany?
  3. If your frets were in new condition just use some metal polish and a clean cloth to shine them up. Mask the fret board first so residue from the polishing compound does not get onto it.
  4. The DOD line of pedals all use the same knob. The digitech pedal knobs are cool too.
  5. Look again: http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Fretting_suppl...ss_Inserts.html
  6. I took a look at the actoguitar site. I wonder who would respond if someone posts a comment? The forum is listed under Guitar Repair and Design.
  7. Thanks for the kind words vaxination. We go to the lumber yard and hand select our body woods and in some cases we are looking for pieces that fit a customer's order request. This is a very tough process during the summer months in Georgia but it is a must to provide great quality.
  8. Same thing? http://sandiego.craigslist.org/msg/193842881.html Appears to be an HD reciever.
  9. Properly grounded guitars on a high gain amp will usually cause hum when you are not touching the strings.
  10. You may be right. Overview states high gain tones from the HD147 and Vetta II. The pulverize model is very good and does excactly what it states. The metal and insane models do not sound the same as the combos but that could be the speakers we are using.
  11. I agree - too much output and you loose articulation. No longer will you clearly hear the notes of a chord and you are stuck with chunking some 5ths.
  12. No Alder does not require pore or grain filler. You can apply it anyway if you prefer.
  13. Is your body made out of maple? Maybe the lacquer soaked into the wood? How many coats did you apply? If you mixed your own primer it may be semi-opaque allowing you to see the wood.
  14. True but the 81 is typically used for bridge applications correct?
  15. This might be ok for something low cost like an Alder blank or some hardware however if its a $250 quilted maple top and you want to insure it - you cannot insure it and state it has no value. Stu, if you plan to order figured tops verify if it makes sense to order the body wood as well. We offer tops vaccum press glued to the body wood so its ready to go when you recieve it.
  16. It can work as an output jack but do you plan to use it as a strap button as well? Typical rear routes do not intersect with the area of the strap button. Are you planning to design this in a new body?
  17. The impedance of the pickup does not dictate how much output it will have. The magnet strength and pickup design are factors as well. The highest output is probably the EMG 81 but its active. You don't neccessarily need the highest output pickup to get a very heavy metal sound. A good preamp within the guitar rig will make a huge difference, whether its part of the amp itself or separate.
  18. Not really. The models in the Uber metal are not the same as in the Spider II.
  19. Usually any humbucker with 3 or 4 wires can be coil tapped. Two wire humbuckers like some of the Gibsons cannot be tapped.
  20. That is difference between an Asian made Alpha pot from your link and a CTS pot.
  21. Now what will really confuse everyone is the 120v coming out of the wall socket is actually 340v p-p.
  22. We ship internationally. You may have import duties to pay. We can build most any blank. Take a look at the site and drop us an email and we will be glad to help.
