  1. If I'm picturing this correctly in my head, I think that this percieved 'tension' or resistance to bending is actually the rate of increase in tension as the string is displaced from its equilibrium (unbent) position... I think. edit; In fact that would make a fair bit of sense... probably explain why strings with a higher resistance to bending sound less 'muddy' because the low frequency vibrations would probably decay into the higer frequency harmonics faster
  2. Got bored, had another go I guessed this is what you were describing?
  3. I had a try at changing the body colour... I'm nothing like an expert at photoshop. Its far from perfect, but I think it looks ok~ish. Maybe someone else could have a go at the pickups?
  4. very nice. Although I'd flip the headstock shape so the curve matches the body.
  5. Hah, its an unplugged electric guitar for me mostly. Damn uni accomodation with its thin walls and neighbours who insist on working and sleeping and things.
  6. I say modify the cutaway a little, it looks a bit off somehow... Also it would look better if the neck followed the centerline. But its a good start. And yeah, I have seen similar designs before. George Harrison's (i think it was his) violin bass for example. (Edit: on 2nd thought it was probably pauls)
  7. 1. Mask entire guitar with exception to maple faux binding to be. I'll spray 4 sealer coats, and wait a while before removing the masking. 2. Post pics 3. Use Stewmac waterbase colortone grain filler to fill all mahogany, until sanded and uniform. Neck and body (still separate). 4. Post pics 5. Use Stewmac Dye (diluted in alcohol) and hand apply color directly to unsealed, un- filled maple cap. 6. Post pics 7. Seal entire guitar guitar with Stewmac rattle can sanding sealer. 4-6coats, 2-3 per day. Allow 1 week to cure. 8. Post pics 9. Finish guitar with Stewmac rattle can lacquer. 2-3 coats per day, sanding after 8 coats are on. Total of 10 coats? 10. Post pics 11. Sand and wet sand. 12. Post pics 13. Buff with medium Stewmac compound 14. Post pics 15. Buff with fine Stewmac compound 16. Post pics 17. Assemble, and get action set. 18. Post pics 19. Play loudly. 20. Post pics Fixed that for you
  8. +1 for pics +10 for accurate, full sized drawing Honestly, accuracy is important, otherwise you risk making something completely unplayable.
  9. Looks well made and all, but its damn ugly and looks impractical
  10. Thats looks great. I still want you to leave it natural.
  11. If its as bad as the behringer strat my neighbour had, then +1 to this.
  12. sooo...you believe this is intelligent criticism? sorry greg, once again you are just mislabeling your "touchy-feely" stuff as "logic".nothing personal, but in point of fact, you are actually not a logical or lineal thinker by any means.that is not a bad thing, but you should not keep crying "for the love of logic!" when it's more like "dude, that's the way i feel" maybe you guys would have preferred satriani to stand straight up and look bored?... but in all honesty these type of comments just crack me up,as they are too egotistical to take seriously. edit: nevermind
  13. Thanks for the comments Well its about 6ft x 4ft since we cleared out the garage, but yeah. and thanks Oh and I did record some sound files, but probably only one or two of them is worth posting. I recorded them straight into my laptops microphone socket, which wasnt really ideal. Distortion pedal + crappy sound card = horrible recording, but the clean ones were ok. I'll try to upload some later.
  14. I love it! The fretboard is fantastic
  15. Its finally 100% Finished! As I said before, the previous posts were before I'd actually wired and strung the thing up. I finally got the opportunity to do so, since I'm home for easter. And I like it! I knew I'd like the neck, since I didnt make it; I took it and all the hardware from a guitar I already had, but the body is definitely an improvement because: - its lighter -the trem cavity is cut so that it will only dive and lower the pitch, which means that I can actually get the (fairly cheap) floyd rose copy to actually stay in tune. -The trem block is contacting the body wood, and seems to transmit more vibrations to the body and make it sound a little less harsh and a little 'fuller' than it did before. (I suck at describing sound) -The new pickup sounds better. Didn't cost much at all, and its an improvement on the original, so I'm happy. More pics ~And there seems to be plenty of requests for sound files, so I'll plug it into my pc now, and attempt to record some. All opinions welcome. Positive or negative.
  16. Salvia is legal isnt it? Btw what do y'all make of this; http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6474053.stm Theyre ranked based on a few factors like damage to society per user, as well as danger to the individual btw. I guess thats why alcohol ranks so high. also the classifications are the uk ones. The ranking of ecstasy seems most surprising to me.
