  1. His signiture looks like 'PAW GIUBEN' Looks very well made and finished, and definitely eyecatching!
  2. That longer horn looks like it will snap off easily, but I suppose thats a given with any pointy body shape. I quite like the colour it is now personally, but I'm sure white will be great too.
  3. I know that using more windings increases output but changes the tonal qualities, and that using different types of magnets affects the tone too, but what about using 2 magnets of the same type? would this just increace the output of the pickup, or would it have some sort of an effect on it's tone too?
  4. What about your real name? I always wish people would put their real names at least in their signiture or something, cos I feel silly addressing a post to some made up name like 'Mr Taco'!
  5. My first thought was that the shape looked off, especially the horns. After reading nitefly's post I agree with him. Personally I think that those floral jem things are among the ugliest guitars ever made, but thats just my opinion
  6. google Zachary guitars, the guy on that site uses jumbo fretwire on the lower frets, then narrower stuff thats the same hight on the upper frets. That way your fat fingers may fit between the frets easier
  7. Wont the pickguard get in the way of the V-shaped tailpiece thing? From your pic it looks like the V-shaped tailpiece will overlap over the control cavity.
  8. ....I think that sums it up nicely.
  9. If you live in the UK then I recomend this company: http://www.jhs.co.uk/vintageelectric.html The LPs (the v100 ones with mahogany bodies and set necks, not the cheaper bolt ons) are really good copies for the price. Great fretwork, great pickups and hardware and pretty cheap. That site is the companies site, so the prices are RRPs. The real prices are much lower. Read the reviews on harmony central. I've tried 3 of the models on that page (LP, jackson type one, and one of the pacifica type ones at the bottom), and all three had really good fretjobs and low action. The LP sounded best IMHO.
  10. I'm was a little dissapointed when it went back to boring old blue. The colour changing neon ones are annoying, but some of the brighter ones that don't change colour are cool. If I'm online next time it happens nitetfly I'll take you a screenshot
  11. Haha! thats insane! Looks like a crazy solution to a headstock break
  12. I wasnt here for the colours or pringles, but I remember last time the forum was hacked. I quite liked some of the psychedelic skins
  13. Just a second ago every single thing I clicked on the forum redirected me to the disney homepage...

http://www.guitarx.com.au/information.php?...6a8d0&info_id=4 Thats where they try to explain why they are cheap. and they say: 14 Day No-Questions-Asked Money Back Guarantee If you are not satisfied with an item for any reason, you may return it to us, at your expense, within 14 days of receipt of goods for a refund of the full purchase price. Returned goods must be in original condition and include all boxes, manuals, accessories, etc. Shipping/handling costs are not refundable under any circumstances. I would guess that they are genuine. I would avoid the ones with floyd roses, as I have had noting except bad experiences with cheap floyd roses. The product demo on the sunburst LP made me smile, when the guy is playing the first 4 songs I ever learnt to play
  15. Yeah some oak has nice figuring, you say you have a 'nice piece of oak', so if its nice why not use it for the top too?
  16. Wow! whatever the hell that is it looks nice
  17. Scarf joint, headstock and and pickup covers are all looking great!
  18. Glad to see you came to your senses! I'd leave your RRV alone too, both guitars look stunning as they are IMHO
  19. Wow! That looks amazing as it is, I wouldn't spray any green on it.
  20. I havent played it yet so I cant comment on the tonal qualities, but I'm currently making a guitar out of oak. It's chambered and its actually very light (light enough so that I can pick up the whole guitar by holding the end of the neck near the headstock, [if thats any sort of indication]). Since your idea is chambered too I'd guess it will probably be OK weight-wise. If by 'too hard' you mean hard to work with, then its fine in that respect. Its softer than the rosewood fretboard I bought. Hope that helps!
