  1. Are you thinking of Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave)? CMA
  2. Great build! I saw the build thread for this 'tar over at the reranch forums. You did a great job documenting it! CMA
  3. Verhoevenc recently did a tutorial on how to angle a neck-through. You might want to check that out in the tutorial section. CMA
  4. This is one of the best places I've found concerning the subject: http://www.till.com/articles/PickupResponse/index.html A lot of math, theory, and such so be prepared . As a side note, if I recall correctly, pickup position matters more the closer you get to the bridge. For example, the difference between the neck and middle pickup would be less than the difference between the middle and bridge pickup. Though, I am not an electronics expert. CMA
  5. It's all good in the hood . Anyway, I really love the design in posts #32 (except for the slanted fretboard) and #42. It would look awesome played as a stand up bass. Can't wait to see some progress pics. CMA
  6. That neck looks very nice. Glad to see some more progress. As far as the screw up goes, if you're cool with that, then gravy. If I were building the guitar, I'd probably just redo it, but that is just how I am. No moral dilemma here. Besides, if anyone asks about it, just say it was a "custom job" . CMA
  7. Wow, this is going nicely. A lot of good bass builds lately. I can't wait to see more on this one. Great design! CMA
  8. Wow....you are officially one of my favorite builders! The SG was amazing; it just had some kind of quality to it that seemed to make it unique and special. You've nailed it again on the LP. I hope this baby goes into the GOTM contest. Great work! CMA
  9. Yay! I've really been waiting to see more progress on this build. Can't wait! CMA
  10. Man, this is the hardest month I've ever voted in...my top three choices came down to: skelf - bass: Man, what a great combo of woods and just beautiful craftsmanship. I loved this one. Digthelows - The Elephanned Prototype: I can't believe this is your first one...great job! The contrast between the walnut and maple is awesome. And the live pics are great too! I am not a fan of fanned frets (no pun intended), but this one is a beauty. Marcovis - LP: Wow, stunning LP. One of the best I've ever seen put together. I love the finish on it. Well, I think I'm gonna have to go with the Elephanned Prototype. It was really a tie between the two basses, but digthemlows won me over with the live pics (I love when players build and actually play their instruments) and the fact that this was his first. And...well...I just love walnut and maple . All in all, great work this month by everyone (I loved that acoustic, ron). CMA
  11. My favorite type? Whichever category Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, et al. would fit in. CMA
  12. Magnifique! Amazing guitar and excellent work. You can't get this quality of workmanship from Gibson . Thanks for sharing it with us, CMA
  13. Personally, I would go with the wenge knobs, as I love the contrast. And I am with the rest of the guys on scooping out the lower horn a little more. But to each his own . Great bass though; keep it up! CMA
  14. You rich folk and your stacks of pretty wood! *sigh* If only I could afford just a lonely slab of alder... Lol, that is some nice wood you got there Rich. I'm diggin' that redwood as well! CMA
  15. Are you still going to enter this in the GOTM? I can't wait to see it! Sounds clips would be cool as hell too, if you can get some. But I'd be happy just lookin' at her . CMA
  16. I know how you feel. Oh well, that's not necessarily a bad thing. It'll give you plenty of time to ponder your design and plan Anyway, it looks great so far (I love the grain on that mahogany). Here is some inspiration to hold you over: http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...st&p=261996 CMA
  17. Hey, any progress? I am getting anxious . CMA
  18. Great guitars this month. It's always so hard to choose. But I am in love with Pukko's guitar. It is just beautiful. It really captures that look I love; the combination of a tried and true "player's" guitar with the really pretty, detailed ones that you see on PG that look like they ought to be in a display case. I could see myself rocking out with it (*hint* *hint* ). How does it sound anyway? I've heard a lot of people don't really like the dream 90's, but I am curious what you think. Anyway, some amazing workmanship this month. I hope I can build like the rest of you guys someday CMA
  19. Wow! That is some beautiful grain on that Tele. I'm really digging it. Too bad about the neck though. Great work, keep it up man. CMA
  20. Lol, massacre? I think you mean Macassar Ebony! CMA
  21. This is gonna be a hot project! Never have been a big fan of double bubble, it just tastes weird to me. But, each to his own. Is the fingerboard ebony? I can't really tell. CMA
  22. This is great! I'm backing it up too. I think this could go in the tutorial section. Thanks for sharing your experience with us! CMA
  23. Sycamore is less dense than maple, much closer to mahogany actually. Given, this varies piece by piece. This looks very cool though, I think it'll look great when it's all said and done. What kind of equipment are you putting in it? CMA (P.S. Are those laminates flush? It may just be the photos, but it seems the mahogany sinks down a little.)
  24. That's a really nice looking neck! Can't wait to see how this one turns out. CMA
  25. I like double cuts, but I think the SG would be awesome. Besides, we need some more SGs around here. In any case, just make sure you have fun with it! CMA
