    RGman, I think it is a deep set neck type of neck construction: Pretty much a set neck extended all the way to the back (or however far back you want it). I like the contrast of the woods. How does it sound? CMA

    I think you'll be fine. Padouk is a very tough and stable wood (not to mention tough on tools). CMA (P.S. That is a nice looking piece too. I'd like to see how it turns out.)

    400$ smackers a week?!?! For one dog? I couldn't bear to spend that much money, unless the dog serves a function other than as a "pet" so to speak. I don't have any money though, so I don't guess I'll be of much help. I'd like to see what that husky looks like though. CMA

    Regular pots have short shafts (compared to long shaft pots). http://www.guitarelectronics.com/category/...s.2controlpots/ Look at the top two items. The long shaft pots are really only used on thick carved tops, such as Les Pauls. That guitar is not topped so I am thinking it has normal pots. If you're still not satisfied, the best thing to do would be to just take to that guy and have him tell you what you need. CMA

    It should work fine. SG's are 1 1/2 in. Leo Fender was looking for the economic route when he built guitars. 2 in. (1 3/4 by the time they were planed and what not) is the norm, so that is what he used. A lot of what he did wasn't for sound quality, but to save money. CMA

    'Buckers generally have 500k pots, so I'm pretty sure that is the case. I don't see why they would be long shaft on this guitar, so I'm assuming they're just common pots. Might want to wait for someone else to chime in though, just to be sure. CMA

    I vote for Drak. The acoustic is awesome, but I love teles. And that is an amazing tele. Nevertheless, all these instruments are great and well-crafted. CMA

    Alder is not a good neck wood, but the maple ought to work. European maple is softer than NA hard maple but I think it'll still work. CMA

    Great work Drak, your stuff always inspires me. I am wondering, what is the general rule as far as AANJs go? How much wood can you take off (or how much wood do you need) and still have a strong join? How much wood do you usually have from the top of the neck to the back of the body? I haven't really found any info dealing with this. Thanks, CMA

    Get a mask and be very careful around the more exotic woods, especially Cocobolo, and you should be fine. I guess maple would be less reaction prone than the other two choices, but all three of the "classic" fingerboard woods are relatively safe. CMA

    Sounds like a neato idea. I'm thinking you'll have to be pretty exact with your fingering as far as playing goes though, or it'll sound out o' tune. It's much easier to get away with on a bass because of the way our mind works with sound. CMA

    I was afraid of that. So, how would that work out with a tele bridge pickup? Would I be better off sticking with 250 pots or is there a way to bleed off treble from the bridge pickup without changing pots? Any suggestions? Thanks, CMA
