  1. Started on the body today. Hand planing! My first experience hand planing. Sure is a lot of work. I am waiting for some of that beautiful wood from Litch. Then I should be finished by Sept. Finding the perfect top has been hard especially with no $$$. I'm too busy saving for a Bandsaw.
  2. Bluesand rockbilly.
  3. Just a thought. I used to use Elixers, but didn't care for the tone. Sometime try Thomastik-Infeld strings. They use a thin brass coating to stop the corrosion and the sound is killer. I've convinced everyone I play with and now they all use T-I strings. Thomastik-Infeld A great place to buy strings HERE.
  4. Lookhere! I'm not sure if this will answer you question.
  5. Mmmm.....! I'm not sure that by changing the way a board lies changes the initial cut. Once flatsawn always flatsawn and once quartersawn always quartersawn. I think it would be that way! In my opinion. Just wondering.
  6. Hope no one thought I was dissing Stew Mac! I am a customer and their service is excellent. Excellent point DRAK!
  7. Without refretting it is going to be hard to clean up the scratches. You could scallop the fret board or you can just dye the fret board to darken it. I've used a solution I made a while back that works well on dark wood. I got the idea from the tutorials. I mixed some vinegar with a fine piece of steelwool in a little jar. Let is sit for a week or more (SHAKE IT OFTEN) and it will dye your fret board dark again. This is just my opinion. Wait for others to opine to see what answers they give. Good luck. Hope this helped.
  8. Good work. It is a very beautiful neck.
  9. This has been discussed numerous times, but this might explain it, or you can do a search
  10. Just sold my Transtube. It has held up for many years of gigging. For my taste in sound this worked well for me. Sold it to buy a bass amp otherwise I would have kept it.
  11. I have to agree with you Drak. Al Dimeola has been my favorite for many years.
  12. I found this site and viewing down the list it has a few Kimbara's listed to give you an example of what yours might be worth. I did not find your model. Here
  13. A jointer plane is the least expensive way to go. I have had good luck with mine and I now have more money for a bandsaw. Here
  14. I had very good luck with cotton linen fabric. It came out very nice.
  15. It is a very nice design. The lines flow well. Looking forward to the finished product.
  16. Welcome to the site. Here is a site with neck replacements as well as other parts. Unfortunately thay don't have the 24.5" scale, nor the glue in style of neck. Look Here Stew Mac sell a through body 24 fret neck that might work. It is 25" scale. You might be able to cut off the excess part of the neck and do a glue on. Not sure though. Here
  17. Buffing machines Lower cost than Stew Mac

  19. Someday I'd like a standup too!
  20. Have you given any thought to the Ibanez artcore series. Less expensive that Jay Turser and better quality. Ibanez
