  1. Could it possibly from an extended high humidity period in your area? Just another thought! I believe it is high humidity that cause higher action.
  2. Sorry, but a couple of sites have them listed as the same genus. Therefore the same wood! Look at page 7. Sorry, it's Adobe! It is called (in several site sites) Brosimum Guianensis- Leopardwood/Snakewood common name Letterwood. Although Gilmer Wood calls Snakewood Piratinera Guianensis. Look on my first post where I posted "edit". At the top of that site it spells it out. I didn't make this stuff up, so don't take it out on me. I'm just telling it as I see it.
  3. It is also known as Snakewood which is a more common name. So try googling Snakewood instead. Here is one site. Edit: More info and more
  4. I would highly suggest USA Custom Guitars. Their necks are very, very good, and not to expensive. Give them a try. Here
  5. I doubt if they use walnut, probably alder. They might just stain whatever wood they're using a walnut stain, but I don't know for sure. Why not email them and ask there? (jay_turser@jayturser.com) Email taken from the web page!
  6. Another one of the names put on guitars made by (I believe) Samick. Never liked the fit or finish on the ones I played. I was much happier with the SX basses (Rondo Music) I bought (lower cost, but not much else). Just plan on replacing everything that is not glued on (electronics, hardware, and nut).
  7. What is wrong with the guitar that would make you think it is an imposter? The picture on Rondo musics site shows both headstock styles. Your's is the new style according to the site.
  8. Keep an eye on USACG. Once in awhile they'll have seconds (not perfect bodies) for sale. At much lesser prices.
  9. I went to see for myself a few years ago and my impression was the same as BigD's' I played one of Ed's Pearlcaster's with the 2500 grit finish Ed brags about. When I asked why the neck was warped I was told that it was one of Ed's private guitars (good cover ) and it was not for sale anyway (even though it was hanging out on a rack). Then I was told that the guitars are not setup on the showroom floors because they setup the guitars before shipping. The salesman also said that the store is not there for walk in cutomers due to they sell mostly online. I left quite PO'd. I was a potential buyer. I was all ready to purchase a guitar and they blew me off. Too bad for them I bought a Gibson Tennessean later when I got home. Their loss.

    Scraps Of Wood

Incase Wes doesn't have any I'm still looking for 2 pieces of hardwood. Anything dark will work. 6" x 3.5" x 1/8" minimum. Will pay. Edit: Got some so forget about it.
  11. I thought about that, but wasn't to sure if that was the right way, but definately the easiest.

    Scraps Of Wood

Sent you an email, Wes. OK, OK! So I forgot the third dimension!
  13. I don't thing you have do remove the fretboard just the frets. The fret board you can just sand down along with the neck.
  14. You could either, but I would coat the fretboard with epoxy for a longer lasting board. As is seen here. Scroll down aways
  15. I don't know the scientific answers to your questions, but I do like the walnut idea. It shouldn't effect the tone much, maybe a little brighter. I think it will look good. B is just too scientific for my intellect (or lack of same).
  16. I need a couple of piece of scrap wood. Anything darker than maple will do. I need 2 pieces 6" by 3" or there about. Willing to pay something for the pieces and shipping. Email me please.
  17. That really doesn't make the guitar any easier to play for smaller hands and that was what I assumed he was wanting to do the change for. What other reason would there be to just change the nut? I would think any guitar would be uncomfortable to play with too much fretboard overhang.
  18. You could do that, but I think you'd have to remove the frets to reshape the neck and narrow down the fret board. Then you will have to install new frets, so you will need the proper tools.
  19. I agree! Go build a guitar and stop the politics. BTW I already voted.
  20. Mid 70's Ibanez lawsuit Les Paul copy. Didn't know there was a lawsuit until later, or I would have held on to it. It played better than any LP i've ever played, but i've only played a few standards and studios. So maybe not the better than all LP's, but a damn good copy.
  21. As always Hyunsu great work, you're becoming quite the master at building great guitars.
  22. Haven't built one yet, but it is still a distant dream. I would wait untill I have built a large bodied Jazz archtop, because the similar design only on a much larger scale. BTW thanks for the site. Good info.
