  1. Checked out Hiscock's book, and I found a pic (didn't look too much into it. sorry!), but it did look like it was routed. Also you can measure the height of the pickup and compare to the height of the strings where the pickup is going to be placed. If you are building an axe from scratch, you could always measure another guitar. My guess is that routing will be necessary to get the right height under the strings.
  2. Not to be an A-hole or something, but why not start this thread when you have pics?
  3. ok, who are you and what have you done with metal matt? hahahaha! He does have a point though. Metal guitars are always black, and transparent finishes over a nice figured top is a jazz guitar (according to the big manufacturers that is).
  4. Oh my god! I thought you made the carve with putty!
  5. Loved every angle of it! I really like Gibson-ish doublecuts, and that colour is just awesome!
  6. Hmm...Are you worried that the neck will fall off? That was one loooong pocket! Nice build!
  7. huge fan of jeff dunham here! "sa na ta ana hey, sa na ta ana hey" "...Is it a nice facility?" "It used to be" "What happened?" "New guuy! The idiot tried to practice!" Awesome finish! Get more pics A.S.A.P!
  8. It has that sexy pointyness of an ESP F-series. Looking really good!
  9. Beautiful guitar! Keep the updates comin'
  10. When I first read this, my reaction was similar to Supernova9's. However, you pulled this off so clean and awesome that it looks like a Standard without a maple top. Great work!
  11. http://www.guitarbuild.com/ try that one. they have a lot of other shapes as well.
  12. First veneer job? KIHIILLER! Looks truly awesome with that bubinga!
  13. Beautiful guitar! I'll PM my adress so you know where to send it
  14. If not more important. When I was testing my Line 6 in the store (before I bought it ), I tried ALL guitars (well...almost) and the expensive guitars sounded awesome, and the el-cheapos sounded awesome too. Plug the same good guitar in my old amp, and it's mediocre at best.

  16. Was that the one with 13 strings? Cause that was a pretty bad one too IMO. I don't even consider that to be an instrument. I haven't watched any of his vids lately, but I guarantee that it doesn't even have a pickup. He probably just made som sort of cover and put some wires to it so it would look like a pickup. I know, instruments doesn't have to have pickups, but if you take a look on how it's built, you'll get my point. It's just an ugly cuttingboard with strings.
  17. I agree with Xanthus. Isn't even illegal to put a Fender logo on a Squier neck? I know that Squier is Fender's cheaper brand, but still, I don't think Fender would like the idea.
  18. I guess they used thicker strings, and tuned it an octave below a standard guitar.
  19. Will this axe ever be finished? How much is it left to do? Doesn't seem like much.
  20. Nice build, and I like the creative use of a bass neck! I would probably never think of that. But it raises a question; Is the neck wide enough? I checked with a neck I have lying around, and it seemed good, if not wider.
  21. Awesome design! The headstock looks great. Another thing I like is the "wannabe" humbucker ( )at neck position. Looks good with the Rhoads shape.
