  1. having a wireless system embedded inside the guitar would be damn cool, only thing is that if i had electronics inside the guitar id prefer not to have the batteries inside it and to use a stereo cable and jack to get power to the guitar. course then you need a lead and there's no point having the wireless inside, then there's no point hacing the power etc etc etc
  2. the big thing about tubes that make them sound so good is they have asymetrical distortion. eg if you put in a perfect sine wave then when it comes out through the overdriven tube and the roughs of the wave are more distorted than the peaks. this is very noticable as a nice sound to the human ears, hence why tube amps sound nice. interestinglly enough, our little friend the fuzz face also has non linear diastortion built into it which again explains a bit into why it sounds like it does
  3. damn good job i must say. what comic is it btw??
  4. original fender stuff would be nice but like you said its expensive. im really just looking for decentish copies ive had a look on ebay and ive found quite a nice neck for only £35 its not strat style but from what it seems, its a fender neck and it has a skunk stripe down the back. im tempted to nab it now lol
  5. have you thought about maybe having the gaurd a slightlly off white colour?? eg a blue tint or something to it, i dunno if it could be done but IMHO i think it would look damn cool from what ive seen there i think it'll turn out ace however you finish it
  6. tbh i dont really wanna by squier stuff. i've done minor repairs on friends squiers (so many people i know have them lol) and they epitomise everything i could posablly dislike about guitars. admitadlly these are the real botom end ones so i may be wrong ill have a look now tho
  7. Hellz yeah for Denmark Street. i went up there during Xmas and i didnt find a ocuple places selling bodies and necks tho the bodies i found were all poor quality wood (fiber board shiat etc) i may go have another look next time im up in london tho. im only a 45 min train journey away lol
  8. lol fair enough my man ill take ur word for it, tho as far as i knew it, when Fuzz Faces were being shipped by the hundreds guitarists would make deals with music stores to "Interview" them before buying so they could find one they liked
  9. cheers guys, this is exactlly the sort of stuff im looking for. now to let the searching begin lol
  10. It could hardlly be "designed" to Jimi's spec since the reason the faces around then varied so much in sound was due to the huge varience on the transistors. Jimi would have listened toa load of them in order to find ones that he liked tho. almost every guitarist back then did that

    Straps?

the kramer strap i got when i bought my guitar. its leather and i really love it the true test of a strap is whether you can play topless with it. i find nylon straps dig into my skin but leather is really soft
  12. you gotta love how simple it is inside. a couple transistors, and a few more resistors and capacitors and whadyaknow, your making history
  13. OK could people give me some opinions on whether they think this is worth it? only thing im not so keen on is that is already recessed for the floyd and i wasnt planning on forking out too much cash on hardware
  14. Warmoth and Stewmac bodies are more than £100 not including shipping. im lloking to spend tops about £75 total for the body and the neck, hence why im going with the second hand stuff. local paper might be a good idea actually
  15. Ok people here's the deal people i have decided that for my first project i will make things a bit easier on myself. instead of making the body myself and buying a neck to fit onto it i have decided that i will just buy a strat body and neck and use them to make a project main reason for doing this is so that i dont throw myself in at the deep end and can concentrate more on making a nice looking and sounding guitar. so.... i need to find somewhere that i can buy a strat body and neck from that is neither too expensive and is preferablly in the UK the first place im looking is ebay and i know that this is probablly the best place, but can anybody else give me some other places to look?? infact if anybody here has and old strat body and neck that they want to shift i am more than welcome to take it off their hands for a reasonable price. many thanks JG

    Cables

i went out and bought myself 2 Planet Wave cables for £45 in total. some of the best money ive ever spent. pretty much all the noise that i could notice when i was playing my guitar was from the cable moving around in the jack plug on my guitar. those nicelly designed planet wave plugs with those cool compression springs = no movement and so no noise. also i will almost certainlly never have to resolder these, as i did with my old £5 cable

    Picks?

standard shape 1mil Dunlop Tortex picks for electric and somerandom hing yellow pick i found on the ground dor acoustic
  18. i think its a cool idea tho im not so much of a fan of the Kramer hockeystick headstock, but thats just personal preference tho. if you do get the sustainer then using a push/pull pot instead of the microswitch would be easy (coiltapping is not the name of those types of pots but its what they're normally used for)
  19. im not so keen on the turquiose of the wildkat but i stil reckon its a nice guitar Kramer Striker Customs are damn good guitars. i love mine and i cannot recomend it enough lol
  20. id be grabbinbg that flange pedal straight away tho unfortunatelly i have no way to pay you so scratch that idea
  21. auto wah's are sucky. if your gonna fork out cash for awah effect then get a pedal. if you really really want an autowah then build it, they're amazinglly simple to do
  22. thanks for posting that man. ill dissect it later when i have a bit more time
  23. ah well if thats what he's looking for it wouldnt be that hard if you have some access underneath the actually pedal (eg inbetween the underneath of the pedal andthe base of the unit) then you could drill a smal hole in the pedal and atatch a Double Pole Double Throw momentary push to make switch there. just rig that into the the circuit as a true bypass and that would mean that whenever u put ur foot on it to use the pedal it engages. the rest of the time it would be in true bypass mode
  24. as far as i know the difference betwen rapid and maplins is negliagable. since im at school its easier to get rapid stuff since the school orders lots of stuff from them. at home its easiert to go to a maplins store. there are some things rapid doesnt have. stomp box foot switches for one thing, which really dicks me off since im gonna have to go into a maplins store to get some of them and at £4.00 each it would be alot easier to put them on my school bill lol
  25. what do you mean by switchless?? when you plug your guitar calbes into it it automatically turns on so that its basically always functioning?? or do you want it so that you can switch it on just by toeing down the pedal hard?? either is fairlly simple
