  1. Nice job man!! That's one fine lookin' guitar. Great work for your first project, you should be proud of yourself! Any soundclips?
  2. An LP style neck thru acoustic? I didn't think that was possible. I'm genuinely confused. Now if you mean to build a neckthru LP style solidbody or semihollow body guitar, then yes I think that's possible.
  3. Idea! This is what I did and the sides of my neck pocket are so straight and tight I have to fight to get the neck back out. You first create a template or take the neck you are going to use, and lie it down on the body and trace an outline. Then take a 2X4 or any other straight piece of wood. Line the edge of your router bit up with the inner edge of the line you drew from the neck. Leave the router in the exact spot where the bit lines up with your outline, and set up the 2x4 along the base of the router going parallel with your line. Clamp the 2x4 and guitar down to a sturdy table and take your time. When you rout along that 2x4, you can keep a straight line and you will have a nice neck pocket. Since you are not yet well versed in the usage of a router, I would get a cheap plank of pine or something and use it as a test for this method. Give it a shot, I found it quite useful.
  4. Its such a filthy scam. I can't stand people like that, he's just some con artist trying to make an easy sell. Its sick.
  5. So you guys might like this one- I left a comment on one of his videos saying that with the way it was built, it wouldnt be strong or playable to any true extent. I went to take a look at the video again today and my comment is gone and when i try to post another it says i am blocked from posting on his videos. Seems that he was scared of what i said and didnt want anyone to know that his monster wont work properly. I feel censored.
  6. Go with the white one, the pickguard less tele looks really weird and overused to me.
  7. Whoa sweet work you have done! I realized that i have the same RYOBI router as you. I like it a lot but i found that it becomes more difficult to use when leaving the guard on.
  8. whoa crazy man. that is really close, i had no idea there was anyone near me.
  9. That finish looks gorgeous but is that orange peel i spy?
  10. I feel so out of the loop, seems like a lot of the builders here are from texas, australia, or somewhere in the U.K. I hail from north jersey, so its a far distance to any of those places for me. If any builders are from around here, please PM me.
  11. I really have to work hard and get more experience because these builds have totally blown me away. Simply amazing work Marcovis, you are one brilliant builder. Now I think my next build has to be a carved top LP style guitar. I just love the beauty of it. I can't wait to see these guitars finished, I know that they'll be amazing.
  12. Hmm that's an interesting idea you have there, but I don't find it very appealing, I don't like diamond plate on guitars so personally I'd vote against it. Yet, if you are fond of the idea then go for it! It's always good to experiment and design your own instruments. I don't think anyone has made a diamond plated 7 string les paul before.
  13. This really dissapointed me. I was loving that project and I'm sad to see a member leave over something so trivial. I'm not going to take sides here at all, I just want to say that I feel this could have been avoided. I was really enjoying this build and I love seeing new projects because I know that I learn from seeing people build and work; and this constantly inspires me to work harder to become a top-notch builder. Sometimes we have dissagreements but taking the most drastic response to a simple request is unnecesary. Sorry to see you go, Scottyd, I really love your work, and this is a sad moment for me.
  14. I'd say do a modified BC Rich Stealth design but! that is too similar to the warrior i think, and you already threw that out the window.
  15. Or buy the a .032-.028 gauge single string off the internet. www.juststrings.com. This is where I get my custom strings for my basses. The rest come from http://www.conklinguitars.com/accessories.html. Thanks guys, thats some good information to have!
  16. Nice! I like the 'sound' of that tuning! That was both a pun and not a pun.. anyway,... My younger brother (who happens to be a very good bassist for his age) wanted me to build him a 5 string with a high C one day but I wasn't completely sure how to go about that, and i was hoping that was what you were making so i could look at it to figure out how to go about making one with a high C. But i think this will be a great bass anyway, especially with that contra tuning!
  17. Its funny because when i opened this topic i was listening to a Dimmu Borgir song that says "Hail Satan" in the background. I didn't realize that immediately. Weird stuff. ANYWAY! Amazing inlay work you have there, some purely evil work. The way you spoke about the body design makes me really want to check that out! Post some more pics soon please!
  18. Nice work! I think i might make a fretless out of one of the cheap POS's i have lying around here. Also I've been planning on making pickup rings for my in progress guitar out of wood, and you just proved to me that it can look gorgeous, so I can't wait to make mine. So how does this 'new' fretless play?
  19. Excellent work! I don't really like the KL Headstock on it but hey its your guitar so you make it the way you want it, right? The body looks quite pretty and its sounds good but whatever you used to record didn't do to great of a job.
  20. Looks like this will become a pretty nice new instrument for you. Are you going to put a high c on it or a lower string? I'm not a huge fan of the body shape but I'm willing to bet that I'll like it much more when the whole thing is completed.
  21. wow. the ten neck idea is almost more practical than the 8. I have a suggestion for the 8 neck now, how about build a stand (similar to the other one suggested earlier) except that it rotates the whole guitar, as opposed to it being setup in sections of 2.
  22. HOW would you hold that monster?!
  23. Looks really unstable and uncomfortable to both the body and the eyes. I would consider revising it, maybe making it a BIT more symmetrical and fattening up the horns.
  24. Amazing paint job you have there! Great work, I'm glad you posted it on a different site so all of us could check it out.
  25. much better! I like this design now, flows better, looks more appealing to the eyes and way more practical. I'd beef up the upper horn and like the others have said, shorten the lower one. Other than that stuff, great design!
