  1. Oh man, i didn't follow the procces. It looks amazing!
  2. Bass man, but EMG pickups have rail, like the X2N, no pole pieces. I don't know if another 6 string bass pickups will work.
  3. Melvyn, the problem you're talking about it's real. But I didn't see ilegal copies of your book on the net, i just only saw the Kotch one. I think that the price of the book it's pertty ok, considering that a lutherie class costs a lot more plus the materials to build. Frank.
  4. I think that you can get bass strings on that gauge. I used a 0.75 that's the A (third) string from a bass. I think that if you can make the scale larger will sound more articulate and with more definition on the low F#. Something between 28"/30".
  5. Perfect, I'll mail Larry and ask for prices and wood avalabiliy.
  6. I searched info about this process, how it's done and if it change the tonal properties of the wood. And I found this: http://www.bassnutz.com/showthread.php?t=2017 I think that's an amazing idea for spalted tops that are very fragile, or other woods that are very figured. You can sand it withour problem? And what about the finish options, can you use poly laquer? Another thing, where can I get this wood? Frank.
  7. ^ I didn't see the blackout in 8 string. They have the 6 string available at the moment and they will start producing the 7 string version. Fredrik and Marten from Meshuggah, use 32" Ibanez 8 string guitars. They use 0.09 and a 0.70 for the F#.
  8. Hey man! EMG is selling the 808 pickups, that's an 8 string version of the 707 (or 85 in six strings). You can get them fro 101 dollars http://guitarpartsdepot.com/Merchant2/merc...itar-Humbuckers You can also use the EMG 40 or EMGHZ 40, they work also. You have Lundgren, that are hand made, but they cost like 200 dollars each. You can get them thru conklin. I used that tuning on a 6 string, considering that it was 25,5" scale, a 0.75 string worked like F#. But it was a bit floppy for my taste. You can use a 0.10 pack of strings, and use a 0.75 for the low F# and maybe if you like tighter tension you can use a 0.11 a 0.65 for the B and a 0.80 for the F#. The new Ibanez can handle the F# on a 27" scale, so i think that it will work. Frank.
  9. ^ To fix that you can use wood dust + epoxy. That carve looks very good.
  10. I'm loving it. It's turning great, dude!
  11. I don't know matt, that body looks amazing IMO.
  12. I'll go to a friend house that works with different metals. He will help me with this. Another thing that I was thinking it's about the ETS bridge. They look very good and the model are so amazing.
  13. I was thinking today while working, that maybe you can touch the truss rod of the guitar and see what happens.
  14. PTU 7's- Have you ever used the tools or methods you are describing, with success? Peace,Rich Yeah, it works. It's the system to bend the sides of the acoustics also. Frank.
  15. I like it Matt, it's a diabolic mockingbird shape.
  16. I was thinking about neck stability issues. IF you don't make it thick enough probably it will bend to the grain side.
  17. You can build the body and use a fanned jazz bass pickup on the bridge. That would be a nice idea.
  18. It's going very good. Waiting to glue the wings, but this week i have been working a lot and didn't have any time to do it. I need more time for the lutherie, but it's going great. Frank.
  19. The guitars are looking very good. I want to see both 7 strings finished.
  20. Very nice work, i saw your work on sevenstring also. Congrats!
  21. I like the lower horn, gives to the guitar some attitude.
