It looks great! I love the aged hardware, might have to try that out some time. I like the subtle carve, it does look much better. And I love that top.
With the double action TRs, just rout the channel, no need to attach it at either end. CF bars should go in their own channel alongside the TR. I don't think you would need two, one should do it.
The fretwork on mine was so horrible I defretted it- and when I put it all together the truss rod adjustment nut spun like a mother and never straightened a bit.
If you're doing a bolt-on, I would say the headstock end.
and you could stick a CF bar along the rest of the length without the truss rod for some extra strength.
If it's your first neck, I might do the Hot Rod, it's much easier to work with and rout and all that jazz.
And the rest of it looks good, and if you did wanna do a 24" scale, I'm guessing you'd be able to intonate .07".
I've seen the eleven string bass somewhere, and all that the guy could do on it was tapping. I agree, it sounds fretted- none of those smooth glissandos that fretlesses are known for- and the slap doesn't sound fretless. And it's ugly. And I agree, horribly unbalanced. It sounds too...controlled for a fretless.
I voted for Lee's. While the LP was good, it was just too plain for me- nothing really caught my eye. The '54 was also really good, it was definitely close. But the bass was just that little bit better.
StewMac seems to do it's preslotted pre-radiused boards correctly- the one I've used was radiused correctly and slotted plenty deep for their fretwire.
I love fretless guitars. I got a saga kit just to see what they were like and was getting the frets playable and went 'screw this' and defretted it. I can't stop playing it now. And it doesn't take a whole lot of practice to get the hang of it. It's lots of fun.
