If a guitar has a cavity (or what looks to be a cavity) for a FR, but there is no hole in the back of the guitar for springs or anything, would there be a way to put either a FR or some other tremolo in there with out having to route a cavity, or fill the hole?

Thanks :D

i believe front rout kahlers have the springs in the baseplate or similar to that...isnt he asking if you can have a floyd rose without a back rout? if so, i say no. you could cut the block off and mount it some how and lose the trem part?

There are a couple of trem designs that are front mount, or front route.

The most popular are the Kahler, with the Washburn "Wonderbar" being a distant (and extinct) 2nd.

I don't think the washburn wonderbar required any rout, just some screw holes. It was a massive ugly thing, that was all on top of the body, kind of like those hotwheel cars where the whole engine was sitting on top of the hood of the car. LOL

Yeah, it's been a long time but I vaguely recall my old Kahler Pro was top only surface mount. And yes the springs were contained inside the bridge itself.

Does the route look something like this?
