spazzyone
it looks like Neil Moser built this guitar for Randy and Dime but it does look pretty cool
croaticum
it looks like Neil Moser built this guitar for Randy and Dime but it does look pretty cool Neil Moser is one of my favoride designers as everyone can see. Sure there is few guys here that inspire me the moast. BTW if i decide to make this guitar you gave me loads of ideas abou pretty much everything on what to do on guitar. Maybe ill call it RDM Custom to honour 3 guys you mentioned. I played a little and heres the mockup Again ,thanks spazzyone for opening my eyes! redwhiteandthemaple
That thing looks more like a weapon.... with flashy colors... Haha. Not a fan of the pointy concept, but it sure does have the effect of terrifying people
deathcorip
don't think the headstock works as a symmetrical design with the rr v style body, but i like the body
NamelessOne
I"m worried about the bottom left-most spike... that's a big area supported by a significant amount of cross-grain, and it's in a place very likely to get knocked around. repeat that thought, though a lot less so, for each of the spikes on the sides. on the other hand, it's very metal. VERY METAL. \m/ \m/
croaticum
Thx for yout thots guys. As it is obvious I'm a huge Neal Moser fan. LOL + i am a metalhead so....... Awww yea, and i am more of a metal matt capacity so strats etc looks like travel guitars on me. Ok, this guitar is not gonna be built for me as i allready said, but still... In 2 weeks im going to select a wood for this guitar and i guess ill start to build it asap.
Lord-of-the-strings
I think a modified version of Vai's Ultra Zone guitar's headstock would look better. Also, the flame paint job doesn't really "flow" I think flame or quilted maple stained dark grey would be awesome.
!!METAL MATT!!
Hey man thats deadly!! but I hate that headstock !!METAL MATT!!
WarriorOfMetal
i made a very similar design to that a year or so ago....(please excuse the non-to-scaleness)
croaticum
The more i look at the headstock it is beeing clear to me that this wont work out. Ill work arround that for a while and see what will come out of it. Then again, this guitar will be done for my friend so it's his call. And i thimk i smelled some CNC machine near here, so if i manage to work something out with guys that have it ill be having less blisters and splinters than i thot. Xanthus
I think the design works very well for....... well, for you, basically But that's the only one who matters anyways, eh? I think the headstock fits, but I'm sure whatever you think of instead will make it fit better. The paint job reminds me a lot of Dime's guitars, and that combined with the headstock, well Dean could have built it in no time Because of that fact, I might consider a different paint job. Some sort of maple/stain would look good, methinks. A silver or grey black/sandback stain would look sharp! In any case, good luck!
NickCormier
One thing I noticed that would bug me, dunno if you and your friend like it or not.. but the bottom "v" section of the back.. like under the bridge, I think that would look much better rounded off, instead of so straight edged. Thats my opinion though. Im hoping to get something like that made in the future (maybe by Metal Matt ;o ) but without the Moser cut-ins, and it will be 7 string most likely lol Edited November 26, 2006 by NickCormier
Palepainter
Its a very cool design. Definitely has Neals's influence. Im sure he'd dig it too. The only down side is I can see that being a painting headache. Dig the mock up too. Clean work.
