Spec Top will be cocobolo with a black limba body purpleheart contrast veneer. 7 piece neck maple/bubinga with a mac ebony centre. Another cracking Spalted Maple acrylic impregnated fretboard from Larry at Gallery. Hipshot hardware. ACG FB pickups along with the ACG filter pre-amp. Daniel Sorbera
Thats one of the more interesting pieces of coco I've seen. That one should turn out great.
guitart
What type of glue do you use with the cocobolo? I hear it can be tough to glue. I used an exotic hardwoods epoxy that has worked so far.
thegarehanman
I've never had problems gluing cocobolo, and I've glued quite a bit of it together in the last few months. I just make sure all surfaces are freshly sanded or planed. And allen, that top is H-O-T, hot!
skelf
I will be using titebond to glue the top to the body. This joint does not get much in the line of stress and has a huge gluing area. If it was a fingerboard I would be using epoxy which I use on all my fingerboards. I also have some of the Smith's hardwood epoxy which is specifically for oily woods. Just doing the same as above freshly planed or sanded. The top should look pretty good with some lacquer on it. skelf
Hi Jon Still a couple of basses to go out before I can really get work on this one. I have some templates to make before any wood gets cut. One for the body wings and another for the neck. Once those are done things should move along at a good rate. travismoore
Awesome stuff as usual alan! Was going to try some down to bass day but Manchester is just a bit to far for me to attempt which is annoying because i say that you have a stall there and would have really liked to see one of your bass's in person.
