Jon
Sweet work! Great to see beautiful justice done to that Padauk fingerboard!
pmarlin
Yeah I really like the color of the padauk, thats a really nice piece you sent me thanks.
mattharris75
That's really impressive, sharp looking neck! I'm building my first neck and definitely am not up to all that binding and inlay on the first go round. (Although on the style of guitar i'm building I don't want it anyway) Good job! SoundAt11
Wowwwwww, That is extremely cool. The "flame" top is cool enough, then I see the inlay on the fretboard. The matching knobs and pickup ring are finishing touches, though, I'm glad that you took the time to do those and not use premade ones. biliousfrog
For a first build that thing is awesome. Shame about the wavey borders but you've done a pretty good job anyway. It just goes to show that building guitars is 95% about preparation, persperation & common sense. So many people avoid doing anything remotely difficult but as long as you're prepared to put the work in there's no reason why you shouldn't be a little more adventurous. The knobs & pickup surround are a nice touch too. I can't wait to see this finished & to see what you build next.
pmarlin
This first build is definitely a learning experience, thats why I am trying so many different things in this one build. Even though I have made some mistakes its still alot of fun and I am enjoying it. the next build I will know a little better what to do and not to do. Petrol
Outstanding! Giving me a lot of inspiration for when i finally get to start my first build in 2 months!!!
pmarlin
I strung it up and gave it a test run . Now it just needs to be sanded down and finished. I got 1 picture before the batteries died. Charged them up just enough to get that picture. Almost done!!!!
Jon
Very sweet man, a very creative and well thought out first build!
oz tradie
Well done on the first build, Paul You've brought a heap of really interesting ideas to the table with this one. (hmm.......which idea to use first..) And good on ya for moving outside your comfort zone and giving it a red-hot crack. cheers, Stu
mattharris75
You know, this guitar would look awesome with red dye and a black burst...
pmarlin
I am doing some searches but finish suggestions are welcomed. I really like the the padauk and yellowheart so I am thinking a clear gloss finish. The yellowheart really looks like fire when it is wet. the grain is really 3 demensional and shiny. Jon
Honestly, I would finish the fingerboard with Poly so it does not turn brown quickly.
mattharris75
So Paul, have you finished this thing yet? I've been looking forward to seeing how it turned out, and what you decided to do on the finish.

pmarlin
Ok so finally getting back to this a year and a half later. I got divorced and went a little crazy. Did a lot of partying and living like a rock star. Put myself further in debt and now I have slowed down back to reality so gonna finish this thing. I should have it done this weekend and put pictures up.
