Split Shaft Pots

Recommended Posts

You should be able to. Usually the solid shaft knobs have a set screw. There was a discussion here (I think, it might have been DIYstompboxes) about using solid shaft knobs on split pots. On solution was to put a small cutoff from a drinking straw over the split shaft and then put the solid shaft knob on and tighten the set screw (this was so that the knob stayed on and in the center). I'm sure there are other ways as well.

Easy fix: Put a bit of binding in the slot.

Yeah.

Even easier... align the set screw with the slot in the shaft. As long as you are not screwing it onto the full side of one half of the split (and thus eventually collapsing the split shaft), you should be fine.
