metallicaforlife
I am a little late to getting this thread started because I started this project about 8 months ago and just took a 4 month long break (the first 4 months very very leisurely work.) Anyways. So i had the idea a while back to build a mandolin shaped like a Les Paul, and decided i would name it the "Less Paul". this is the neck a few months ago(the story with the body in the background is that i wanted to do binding so i routed the channel, and then i didn't want binding anymore... so) This is the blank for the new body that has been already cut out and is going to the planer tomorrow. I will post pics then

Workingman
I have been thinking of making an electric mandolin for a while. I thought of making a tele shaped one but an LP may be more practicle. I will be following this thread with interest.
avengers63
I've been jonesing for a mandolin for a while too. I'd have to re-tune it like a guitar so I could play it. At that point, I might as well add 2 more strings and just make it an octave guitar.

That is a good thing in my book.

Osorio
Nice job! A friend of mine here in Brazil make various diferent shapes os mando guitars. Ibanez, Prs, Fender there it goes. In Brazil this instrument was called of "Guitarra Bahiana". Bahia it's a Brazil federation state. Here some reference - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitarra_baiana

metallicaforlife
I need your guys oppinions on this one. Do you thint the headstock is proportional to the body?
Pestvic
the head stock looks good. maybe a tiny bit smaller but looks good
Workingman
the head stock looks good. maybe a tiny bit smaller but looks good With 8 strings it is hard to make the head stock proportional to a guitar's and keep a traditional guitar shape. metallicaforlife
It can't get any smaller, it barely accommodates the tuning machines as is. Thanks for your input
Pestvic
ohh I see what you mean. Then yeah if it needs to fit the tuners, it looks good as is.
