RestorationAD
Undecided on a few parts of this one but we are starting with a beautiful piece of quartersawn Sapele for the body and neck. I am using Bloodwood laminates in the neck again. Already glued the neck blank up so starting on the headstock and the scarf. Saw blade is a little dull time to dig out the new one. RestorationAD
After cleaning up the scarf joints on the cast iron router table with sandpaper attached it is time to glue it up. I use pins on the outside of the blank to stop things from sliding during glue up. My pins of choice? 12 gauge copper wire... soft enough to cut with a saw if accidentally found and plentiful. RestorationAD
I think the customer is going to go with a Bocote board. Funny enough the board I am going to use is not in this pile of fretboards and lams...

ScottR
I like the ziricote board with that top. What are your plans for the worm holes? SR Edited March 14, 2012 by ScottR

avengers63
What are your plans for the worm holes? Put an LED in every worm hole.

RestorationAD
Actually if I use this top I will use epoxy to glue it to the body and let the epoxy squeeze up through the worm holes... Last time I did this I used Titebond and ended up with some really ugly worm holes. The holes that don't get filled from the glue process will get filled from the top. No LEDs One problem with this top is that the neck humbucker will come up right in the middle of some really cool figure. I am still trying to figure the answer out (Single Humbucker || Single Coil Neck || do HB Neck).
RestorationAD
Ehh this one took a left turn. Cocobolo top with Ebony fretboard. Cocobolo top set to be glued.
RestorationAD
Boring... tired of listening to the CNC it drowns out my music.

RestorationAD
Top joined with epoxy. Cocobolo is very oily so the best way to glue it is with West Systems epoxy. Pain to mix... requires a calculator and a scale but it is strong. Also it is very thin when mixed. It actually soaks into the wood so I make sure to put it on both pieces when doing joints. RestorationAD
So this one moves to the next stage next week... body gets cut, fretboard glued... Maybe the CNC is starting to pay off.
RestorationAD
Body blank. The sapele is from the same board I used to make S907_3 (Carnage). The top is cocobolo. I used West Systems Epoxy to attatch the top.
