Prostheta
Wes, you find the direct mount too woody for your tastes eh? Even with some extra mid scoop and a bit of low cut on the amp? Yes,I do.I have a rackspace EQ that scoops out a ton of mids, but I don't want to dial in a flat muddy tone, which is what it would take to get rid of that knocking. They sound good for cleans and some bluesy stuff, just not metal for my tastes.I did one guitar a while back with the neck pup mounted direct and the bridge pup mounted under a ring. That was nice, but it looked strange to me.Really I think too much has been made of direct mounting...it's really only useful in some guitars for specific purposes IMO. In many ways I find that neck-through has the same problems also! Great for clean and big ring-y sustain-y chord-y stuff but for definition it becomes far too messy. Set neck all the way. killemall8
Well, i just got back from another 5 day hunt. I got it wired up, and it sounds pretty good. It puts out a ton more high end than i am used to. Not in a bad way, just different than what i am used to. The cleans are as crisp as it gets though! headstack
How'd you make out on the hunt? I'm going to start another thread about the direct vs floating mount and set vs through neck. I apologize for the hack Kill John
killemall8
No worries John. It was actually my dad's hunt, i just went with him to help pack it out if he got one. We only saw a few, in the same place we saw over 60 only 3 weeks ago on my bow hunt.

MiKro
The guitar looks awesome Luis, I'm so glad you started building again. Hoping to go get some venison soon. Also next year will have a lease on a friends private property. Price is right, as well as only 1.5 hours away and lots of deer and hogs, whoohoo!!! headstack
I havnt seen it yet, where is the Edit button? Should be just to the left of the "multiquote" button. Very strange that you have the other buttons!
Prostheta
It was a permissions issue with edits only possible within 30 minutes of posting.
westhemann
Admin did that because some people were deleting their own posts in old threads because they got mad and "took the ball and went home"
Prostheta
Yep. This has been set on a sliding scale. New members (<10 posts) cannot edit, Members (10-100) can edit for a few minutes after posting and Established Members (100+) have two hours to do so. There are other ways around this such as edit versioning which allows edits to be manually "rolled back" but this is unnecessary at present I guess. No point in overcomplicating anything.
