canuckguitarist
Well, I was just thinking, y'know, about those discussions we had about the entire forum making a guitar....anyway. How about we make the "Project Guitar Guinea Pig"? I know that everbody on this forum has crazy cool ideas for guitars, but perhaps haven't got the wallet to test them out. We could take all the crazy cool "is this possible?" and put them together into one guitar. Here's what I'm thinking... - Hollowbody with the top screwed on - Homemade pickups - Onboard effects - Brians cool laminate fingerboard idea - those are the only ideas I remember so far...got any others? I just thought I'd throw this out there... Any thoughts? Ideas? Flames? Aaron
Curtis P
Aaron Today, i was bored in math, so i took out a peice of paper and started drawing my "custom axe" It kinda looked goofy, but what it was was a hollow body neck through (the sides where hollow) but, heres the kicker, it was a giant "C" the mickups where on where the neck should go through regular body, and the knobs where on the bottom part of the C, i thought it looked kinda cool, then, i drew up a different one with my company logo for the body (SG = Slick Guitars) (haha, its corny) and it turned out pretty gnarly lookin, my point is, how about something like that? PG for the body, hollow body for that "phat" tone My 0.02 Curtis P.S. please dont make fun of me for my corny company name, i am talkin to everyone (wes)
krizalid
yeah... me too... i got some pretty crazy ideas myself you know... i combine the iceman with parker fly and also warlock to create something... frankenstein... the lower body of warlock+upper horn of parker fly+lower horn of iceman= god knows what it is... i also got the idea of chambering it... make it hollow but yet, full of sustain... a pretty much influenced from ormsby i think... what do you think guys? IbanezIceman
Maybe we can get some of the ideas drawn on paper, scanned, and then posted in this thread so everyone can get a better visual of the ideas? Hey Krizalid - do you have an Iceman too?
JohnnyG
hell id be up for giving a hand with this, id probablly be more for giving help on the electronics front tho. however seeing as i have access to the PCB lathe ive mentioned id be more than happy to get circuit board designs we agree upon and manufacture them
Hotrock
Let me see how the pickup winder works out and I'll have a crack at the pups if you want. I could do with someone donating some old bobbins, pole pieces and magnets if they've got them laying around.

krizalid
for IbanezIceman: yeah, i just got one from my uncle who was once in a rock band but the guitar is so badly treated up to a point where no repairman have the gut to repair it. as i'm just a beginner, i don't really brave enough to repair it. man, i'd even don't have the heart to post the pics. one word. bad. even the pickups is burnt and beyond repair. he used to act like hendrix you know... and then complain on the pickups won't work. the only useable parts on the guitar is the truss rod cover. sad isn't it? crack all over and everywhere and all the way. but i like the design and yet i'm trying to combine it with other designs. just to know what it might come up with. so, anyone else? skibum5545
Icemans (Icemen?) are pretty tight, I'll admit. They'd be a pretty cool shape base for a guinea pig guitar: experimentally progressive, yet still very sleek.
Snork
i had an idea last week of making a laminate guitar and carving it les paul style but deeper. this would give it a natural bullseye. i think it would be very cool
