  1. yeah on a dark wood, the pencil line should have a reflection as skibum5545 said.
  2. i taper the fretboard using either a plane or a spokeshave. when you use a plane you can be guaranteed that the sides are straight.

    my vibrato

    guys i need help, ive been playing guitar for say 6 or 7 years now and i still cant do vibrato!!! i suppose the reason i never devedoped it i that im originally a bass player and never needed to use it. does anyone have any tips or exercises i can do to help ? i have a serious lack of rythm in my left hand john.
  10. everyone ive talked to over here seems to have never heard of nitrocellulose lacquer. Would it be just called cellulose over here in europe by any chance? if so, well thats great cos i should be able to get some.... if not, well why has nobody heard of it?
  11. i think its the other way around!, about the sustain that is....
  12. i hold it as follows: thumb on front face of pick, index and middle finger on back face. The thumb is kinda perpendicular to the other two fingers. oh yeah, i use the pick upside down with the poiny bit pointing at the knuckle in my thumb. and half of the time i dont use a pick,i use my index finger. depends on the tone im looking for.
  13. i tried this on my strat, but the output was pathetically low!!!, its been a while since i messed with it but i reckon i used the wrong typr of piezo. i used the 27mm 1.8khz and the 35mm 2.8khz piezos from maplin in the uk www.maplin.co.uk
  14. my latest neck, 3-piece mahogany with an ebony board also developed a slight backbow after i glued it. This is the first time this happened, and the first time i used this type of glue. beforehand i had used a powdered resin glue. john.
  15. just notice someting, i like the way the knob on the p-bass corresponds to the curl in the grain of the purpleheart at that point! good job!
