  1. Bummer it got cut off before the end of the song. I like it! Rock On!
  2. I make sure they're at room temperature when I move them. I DON'T move the amp while the tubes are hot. I also put casters on my cab. As long as you don't throw it around or move it while it's hot you shouldn't have any problems.
  3. I've seen them at the lair of satan - Guitar Center. They're available from Musician's Enemy too - I mean Musician's Friend. I fingerpick mostly but I'll use the Dava's too. I got the Metal tipped ones for x-mas and they're pretty nice. I like how you can vary the thickness depending on where you hold them. They also have a lot of grooves that keep them from turning in my fingers or flying outta my hand.
  4. I have plenty of control and can remove quite a bit of wood with a scraper. Especially when carving the top on my flamed maple project. As for scrapers on a finish I didn't know that they were used for that. I thought the small circular motions of sandpaper are what give off the high gloss look. I wouldn't think it would be possible with scrapers. But I don't have much experience with finishing. I do like the results I'm having with tru-oil on scrap. It seems pretty durable and after several coats it builds up pretty well.
  5. get away from blues playing?!!!! HELL NO! Didn't mean to sound like that. I still love playing the blues I am just getting sick of the way 'I've' been playing it. I want to learn more techniques and tricks to freshen up my sound. I was thinking about Petrucci, thanks. Keep the advice comin! Anyone have any links or songs that may help me out?
  6. I've been getting a little bored with my style so I was messing around with tapping. I found a good exercise that helps to give a fresh sound to my 'box patters'. I'll pic a box scale like a pentatonic and then find the next highest box pattern. I get 3 notes on each string. First and second notes are from the first box pattern and the third note is from the next pattern up the neck. I'll throw in a fourth note here and there. This has helped give me a fresher sound since I've gotten so stuck on the blues scale. Does this make any sense or am I just up way past my bedtime? I decided to relearn satch's 'summer song' to break away from all the blues playing I've been stuck on. Anyone else have some advice to help my playing?
  7. YaY Hyunsu! Looks great! Cute Kid Future guitar player/luthier, eh?
  8. Acetone dangers: AahA!!! Now I know why the ex was so bitchy! She was always doing her nails. Seems like she was always on her period. That explains alot!
  9. Dean Markley Blue Steel 10-52 on my electric. Set of 12 Elixirs for my acoustic.
  10. Project Guitar....Rumpfously cool!!!
  11. Cool. I have CoD and the Misfitz clan plays it but I haven't played it in ages. I played Medal of Honor for awhile though. They seem to be pretty close games graphics-wise. I'll have to boot up CoD and look for ya

    my vibrato

When I first began playin I tried the body to neck wiggle but I found it wasn't very useful. Especially, when I would bend a note then use vibrato as the note was bent. I seem to get more consistent pitch and speed when I bend my whole wrist but I don't practice enough either way I do it. Find something that feels right and do it over and over. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!
  13. I would think you could use a stencil over the holographic material and spray black then remove the stencil and shoot clear. See any problems with that, Brian?

    my vibrato

Yeah, the BB King "Butterfly" as he calls it works for me but I got a little frustrated tryin to get a deeper, slower vibrato. I noticed that going to a thicker string helped me. Then I was able to just push the string and let the tension from the string pull it back. Using a finger behind another helps too but you'll have to just strengthen your index finger since you can't put another finger behind it. Experiment with different speeds until you get one that just feels good to you. Sorry, can't think of any good advice other than that at the moment.
  15. Interesting Strat and Paul mix. I'd probably get better pick-ups than the golden age ones from stew-mac. Brian at Universal Jems has some good prices.
  16. I really don't know what you just said If you want to remove minor scratches, try using 3M Finesse It II. It'll get rid of small scratches and swirl marks with a little elbow grease.
  17. Poplar is a good, cheap 'tastes like chicken' kinda wood, LoL
  18. I love Sperzels too. That's looking REEEEAL nice. I can't wait to see it finished! Very nice work.
  19. USA Custom Guitars can make any shape body you want but it costs extra than the standard ones he makes. The owner is a very cool guy. You could save money if you put the finish on yourself. USA Custom Guitars
  20. Rainbow Six & Rogue Spear back in the day. I've been playin Soldier of Fortune 2 for about 2 years now. I'm in the Misfitz clan. -=][v][z=-BigBadWolf is my name
  21. OOHHHHH MY!!!! GOOOOOD LORD!!!! I Love Z cars. I've had my '76 280z since I was 15. I learned to drive in it. it was stolen about three years ago but I got it back. It was stripped of rims, tires and stereo and dented a little but my motor is still sweet. Headers, cylinders bored .30 over, taller cam, shortened shifter throw. It's a quick lil bugger. I Love Z Cars!!! (ooops, I already said that didn't I) That's too cool!!!!
  22. I agree Hyunsu! No more buying guitars. I want to make all of mine from now on. I'm having a problem deciding on the finish for my guitar so it'll probably just be Tru-oiled. Wipe on and let dry then repeat. Very easy for me. Good luck with the finish Hyunsu! As always, YOU ROCK!
  23. Just got back from Wal-Mart where I bought a 3oz bottle of Tru-oil for $5. It's very easy to work with. Wipe on, let dry, repeat. I tried on scrap and noticed it will look a little lumpy if you lay it on too thick so thin coats will get better results. I don't have spray equipment or a safe place to spray so for me, tru-oil is ideal.
  24. I was at USA Custom Guitars today and Tommy had the coolest looking birdseye....Swamp Ash! I had never seen birdseye swamp ash before only maple. I'm tempted to snag a blank if I can sneak it by my lady.
