  1. I think it's more of a bandwidth thing. It's pretty stupid to me, but I guess they need to feed the lawyers somehow.
  2. Guys, don't let this guy near any sharp objects. Ask him what happened to his BC Rich when he put new pickups in it! Ha Ha! Just busting your chops Cro.
  3. Just hack it off with a butcher's knife. It was just one of those things I had to teach myself to do. The harder part was training it to stay tucked in instead of flying free like snobby people drinking wine.
  4. Just use notebook paper! It's about the same thing.
  5. Can I choose: Investing it in a high yield mutual fund, and then buying something better?
  6. That's okay. It's sort of strage to me too. Especially on the ebony one. p.s. My photoshop skills aren't that bad either: The yellow and the ebony ones are real.
  7. It's a Les Paul Custom, the tuners are gold. The headstock inlay has yellowed, but I'm not sure that they didn't use a yellowish inlay material in the 70s because both customs and my standard are gold too. (My 77 accoustic is silver though...) Check your monitor, the inlays are still (farily) white. Some are chipped and thin from when it was refretted. I guess it had been refretted 2 or 3 times. I'm not going to refinish it, I'll just keep it "dehydrated-piss yellow". At least for now...
  8. See, I started a trend. Either me or Hetfield, its hard to tell.
  9. That's me, Pushead McGuyver. I'm Irish.
  10. Yes. You can get "identical" guitars made of different woods (same everything else), and you will be able to tell the difference. A lot has to do with the density of the wood, and the size of the body.
  11. Would this be considered parallel or in-series? I know too little resistance is bad for the amp, but more resistance (to a point) isn't that bad.
  12. You can fix most things in life with either: a ) a bigger hammer b ) duct tape
  13. How bad do you have to be in a past life to come back as that? Dear God, please put it out of it's misery.
  14. I'm looking to replace the tuners, t-o-m (nashville), and stopbar on one of my LP Customs. The finish on the current ones has bubbled up and rusted. I'm looking for tarnished hardware without the bubbles. Does anyone have old-gold hardware just sitting around that they'd be willing to sell?
  15. The price is US dollars, but are you shipping from Canada? Does shipping include customs?
  16. Well, I love the figuring of most of the Koa tops I've seen. Is it a brighter sound than spruce? I just imagine it's like the mohogany tops and a bit warmer than spruce. I'm just getting into accoustics. I have a mid 70s Gibson J-55, which feels too big to me, and I guess I'm looking for something a bit different.
  17. Ahh... I couldn't find that page last night. Thanks man!
  18. Wow Ed, em R purty! That Koa Tacoma is really nice. How does it sound? I've never played anything but a spruce topped accoustic.
  19. I like the 60 too. I had a hard time deciding which to use after playing both in the neck. Stuck with the 60. I put an 81 at the neck of another (KH clone) guitar. I don't like it much, I'd rather have the 85 back.
  20. It's a Seymore Duncan pickup, but it doesn't have the "graphic" saying so on the front. It is pressed into the back of the pickup with a sticker that says "DD". I assume it's an older Duncan Distortion pickup, it's sort of old and rusty, but I don't know for sure. Especially since the new model number is SH-6. Anyone have any ideas, or places where I can find out. I don't have pix just yet, but I can get them.
  21. Yes, that's true. I find I have to drive my 81s harder than "muddier" pickups. It's because they are so super defined that they need more dirt to chunk up. It also has a bit to do with the type of wood, and the size of the body.
  22. Yeah, I had one of the LP style ones with the dragon inlay (not serpent, they had dragons for a while). The pickups were complete garbage, if you pushed them at all, they fedback terribly. The frets needed to be redone, the guitar was almost un-playable when I first got it and it was brand new (ebay).
  23. Looks like a thin piece of laminate. Wood, plastic or something similar. Gibson used to do something like that with mid 70s Les Pauls. But they put a 1/16" piece of walnut between 2 - 1" Mohagany pieces for the body before the maple cap. Either that, or he's really good with a marker!
