  1. I didn't quite catch the method, could you describe it more slowly please? I am working on the same job know and I am stuck at the Washburn logo. It's not a stained neck by the way.
  2. If you really insist on the aerofoil shape, you could use it for the body. I think it would suit the body well. Also, I actually like the headstock I think it adds a nice little contrast there.
  3. Maybe it will be too bold to say, but I like the feel of my 300$ Pacifica better than the feel of my friend's 2700$ PRS. But maybe it is so because my friend is left handed, I don't know. It's so ironic because nobody else arround can play it. And I completely disagree with rhoads on the phrase that no one of us will ever get to such a position. I bet I will and I will make better guitars than his.
  4. That's the deepest and most mesmerizing quilt I've ever seen. Ever asked how much a guitar like that goes for Guitaarfrenzy? I've sent him an email but probably he was too busy for such unimportant mail. He really makes nearly everything by himself. I wouldn't be suprized if he grew his own wood too. I want one of those
  5. Wow even thinking about it scares me.
  6. My friends hardcase brandname is hiscocks. Just came to my mind, called him to check. Any connection with this guy, what do you think?
  7. I personally clamp the neck tightly to the table and attack it with a chices and a hammer, then finnish it off with sandpaper and rasps. But there is the danger of chiselling too deep theis happened to me on a few occasions. I just had to stop and glue the chunk back to the same place it came out from and redo it. It was not a very hard process but there were left some ugly marks on the neck, unfortunately.
  8. How's the guitar going? Could you seize a suitable limba off the net for your project? I absolutely love the desing it's a perfect combination. What kind of pickups and hardware will be on it?
  9. I think I was secretly surfing the net for guitar building at school in the computer class when I found this awesome site. It has made guitar building possible for me and probably many others. BTW Hotrock is right it took me a long time before I came to realize that there was a forum and it was actually what this site was all about. It would be great if the entrance to the forum was made more obvious. On the other hand maybe it was made a little bit disguised to keep the less enthusiastic people away?
  10. Find a piece of padauk. Sometimes padauk has different tones of reds and pinks in them. So start with the lightest red and proceed to the darkest one in the 12th fret and then lighten again, and at the 24th (or 22th depends on your fretboard) fret, use the same as you used at the 3rd fret.
  11. What will you fill it with?
  12. If I ever bought an Ibanez, that's the only one I would buy.
  13. There is a man I know who is making guitars for a living and he is pretty old. He makes some crazy archtop guitars in shapes resembling the stratocasters. Pretty weird stuff tho.
  14. I'f I start building one, it will be my fourth too and I have a lot of time to spare since I've no hurry. I have many long years in front of me and I can spare even three years for an archtop. BTW for how much do you think a well intonated, handmade archtop with everything in it's place would go for?
  15. The densest I've used so far is wenge. Bubinga isn't as dense as wenge I have it on my bass and it is heavy, but not as heavy as my wenge guitar. Cocobolo is very dense too, I think...
  16. I think white walnut is pretty rare am I wrong? It's rare in my part around the globe anyway, so I wouldn't use it as a body wood, why don't you use regular dark walnut?
  17. Actually you could easily make a one piece guitar out of pine. Just one piece. No neck joint. I don't think it would very wise.
  18. Will you make it non tremolo like in the desing? I like them better than tremolo bridges and it will suit the desing very well. Perfect, I'd really like to have a guitar like that. Maybe I'll buy a Godin but your's is a little bit nicer than Godins.
  19. What can I say, the bestest original desing I've seen so far.
  20. I can't find any piece of ash it doesn't seem to grow in my country.
  21. Can you make a gothic inlay desing for the back of the bridge and the nut? They will complete each other when put together but they will de apart. Or is the project overdue now?
  22. I Turkey we have a lot of olive trees but people don't cut them down just because they bring a lot more income when they are alive, so it is hard to find they. They are fairly similar to zebrawood in grain, color and density but it seems to be a lot oilier wood (like I have ever seen Zebrawood) but it as oily as rosewood. It is very porous too.
  23. Not too relevant but my friends brand new elixirs in his electric snapped in his first bend in the middle of a concert and he was furious.
