  3. Really nice, I like the way you did your build.Really cool when you get that first sound comming out of a build.
  4. Wez, you know ,work is work. I have no dought you will do a first rate job on this. You need to find a better group of wankers with guitars in need of repair. Hahahaha
  5. And there it is, if your happy we are happy.I think it is a cool beater and any kid would love it.Fun is the name of the game.

  10. I am still looking for the top for this.I will probably buy one from SM.Going to NAMM so it will be awhile.Or since this is still a early build , I might do something kinda strange.I am leaning toward strange right now .
  11. I had a friend who could really play one of these.Looking forward to the finish product.
  12. I use tung oil and they are similar .Like Wes said ,eight onces are more then enough. When I use oil ,I sand the piece to 320 grit , then I sand in the first coat with 220 grit.I sand it in until ,when I wipe it off it still looks wet.Really give the wood all it will take and then a little more.Let it dry for at least one day ,two is better. Then go back to it.
  13. Very cool , nothing beats a good remodel.
  14. As a wise man once said ......close enough....
  15. Scotttttttaaaa, thanks for the kind words.I usually over do it art wise, but this medium seems to work for me .I never know what I am going to do ,till I do it.I am using the under lying wood kinda like inlay in places.I like the accents comming from the bottom.I should be putting tung oil on the neck soon and working it to a finish .It will come alive.hahahaha
  16. Maul, I hope you do....I think it would open up the guitar more, to you.It did for me, more things make since to me now.I hope the more I do it ,the more artistic it and I become.i want to be able to make a very classie guitar one day.
  17. I am likeing the curves on this....just take your time and finish them off .Take a marker and get your lines where you want them, then make it happen.Very cool so far.....i don't like stright lines much.hahahaha
  18. Here is one that kinda ties it all together. I hope to get the wood for the top and pull it all together,Still need pick guard ,tail piece , and so forth .but it should be comming alive.
  19. Bob, it's called a learning process...... I bet the next one will be from scratch.
  20. I have been working with tung oil ,and I think I have a good understanding of it.Been aplling it to the neck of the archtop I am building.I hope to pick up wood for the top this week.I think my skills are comming along. I have been looking at tools for the future.....first two I want to get is a bandsaw and a woodworkers workbench. And last but not least , NAMM is comming up ,it should be great.
  21. More pics of build I will be trueing up the sides and back and working on the neck some more ....I need money for the top ,it will be spruce or cyder,I would like the spruse but it dependes on the cost. The neck will get side markers and the head caped nd drilled for tuners, shaped and coated with tru oil. Let me know what you think....any suggestions and stuff.
  22. This is the back and sides lined up Back and sides glued and clamped , the clamping could use some tweeking ,but did a good job as is. Back and sides have attached and ready for tweeking
  23. Don't know what happened ,but here is Top of back ,carved ,you can see depth holes for recurve...still more to go
