  1. The pics a few months old and incomplete but you get the idea!
  2. Here it is haven't seen the navaro pic but heres the guitar reference above.
  3. The ca's that you get at a hobby shop are a much higher quality than the "Super Glue" brands. Drak mentioned Hot Stuff there are many others and usually comperable house brands.
  4. Im really interested in the breedlove atlas series, the normal breedloves are heavenly.
  5. If your using a maple fretboard you would just do your painting before you clear. Im guessing that was what was done on kieth's guitar in the pic.
  6. If you don't mind me asking...who's your friend that graduated from Roberto-Venn? He may be misquoted, but I think you know who he is. BTW there is a post in the solid body section asking about the school. I wonder if my friend will ever post pics of his completed work? I could probably take the digital pics if he wanted too.
  7. Or if you want a naturual finish fill it and put a graphic over it before you clear.
  8. Pactra and Parma make excellent pants for clear plastics, look in the Lexan bodies section of a hobby store. You will also find paint masks as well designed for painting from the inside.
  9. Not to mention that after a week on his guitar the strings are green and nasty, it almost turns the stomach. I've left strings on my main guitar for over a year, however, I now change them monthly because on the electric it does sound better and give me more harmonics. I cant remember when I last changed strings on my acoustic though.
  10. I would check a hobby shop, they have several types of 0 loss high end connectors. Try Deans plugs for instance. Also the Deans plugs are keyed so you cant plug em in wrong.(backwards)
  11. So are there multiple versions of this trem? mine is on rg620gx, it doesnt have the phase switches and just small circuit board, the trem connected by 2 small coax cables. It does have a top mounted toggle to combine or split the electric and piezos. It has 2 jacks but only 1 works, so the switch maybe a mod. Anyways aside from unsoldering the coax this could be moved, dunno if i will or not but it could be.
  12. Also the overall string lenght, tuning peg to bridge, has an effect on tone/sustain etc... in theory. i wont get into the argument on how true that is.
  13. Next weekend I'll be at the hollywood store, hopefully they'll have some I can report on!
  14. do a search in the finish forum or read the stickys or the tutorials on the main page. as far as the selects, they are gonna suck in my experience.
  15. Get the wilkinson and the locking tuners, you can whammy like an almost mad man and still stay in tune. You'll never regret locking tuners.
  16. I would look at filling the existing holes and redrilling them to match the new body. I may be wrong thats just my thought.
  17. Yeah, but .013 is .013 in any language. I'll look into Thomastik-Infeld next time I need strings, but both my guitars at school just go re-strung so that won't be for a while. -Vadim .13 is just the high string the following 5 strings can and often do change from manufacturer to manufacturer. Also a wound g vs plain, etc...
  18. by changin brands you may have accidentaly changed gauge. Meaning not everyones mediums are the same.
  19. I think he nails it there. I think a lot of times people neglect the total package. I really dont care what a gutiar or effect sounds like in guitar center. I really care about what its going to sound like when i get it in my rig. Also how it fit in the live and recording mix with the rest of my band. I think a lot of people who cant hear the difference are using pickups/amps/effects that make it all sound the same. One of the reasons I didnt like my modeling amp my les paul,rg, parker, and strat all sounded pretty much the same. Not so with the mesa. On acousitcs the top is your speaker and the rest your cabinet, so there is a difference there. But its again a total package, braces, strings, string mounting, finish etc... Remember a lot of the older martins that are supposed to be cool people scalloped the inner braces. Put heavy strings on your acoustic and tell me it doesnt sound different. Heck tryit on an electric too.
  20. Orbital sanders can be VERY aggressive. I used pneumatic(air powered) ones at a shop i worked for, you could cut holes with 'em using 60 grit. Handsanding is the way to go, if your unsure of your skill and dont want to mess up your neck, DONT DO IT! Find some other stuff to practice on. I think people often overlook what skill and patience a good sanding job takes. (go ahead and flame me for it)
  21. Wow, almost a year later and replies show up. I wonder now what my plans were then?
  22. I rarely restring my acoustic because I hate the new string sound. Markleys, Elixrs, DiAddario they all take about a week of playing and such to really sound good. Plus did you change string gauge? Going with lighter strings on an acoustic is going to make it brighter and quieter. Your mileage may vary.
  23. A local sign shop maybe able to do what you want. Otherwise see if you can find a guy who cuts vinyl for cars. I have a friend that did logos for our band that way and a banner.
  24. I doubt it. I know we used to dye rc car rims with rit dye but they were nylon, ive been wondering lately if that would work with pickguards. I have one i will try when i have time.
