1. I despise basswood,as well as poplar...and yes I have had guitars made with both. Mahogany, alder, maple, bubinga, etc are much more tonally vibrant.
2. I just looked at a pic of Mcmasters on the net to refresh my memory, and I have never seen that guy at Musicmakers...but I have not been there in a while.
3. I really don't think so.There was a guy named jason who was the guitar guy for a long time, but he was fairly good sized and had dark hair, and I could swear that the one time I saw Jason Mcmasters at The Back Room that he was way thinner and blonde...
4. well, tone IS subjective.basswood sounds tonally dead to me,and that guitar has basswood wings....that equals tonally dead for me compared to my other guitars made of mahogany, alder,or bubinga
5. Short answer is "do not do it." This is just something that everyone in the world tries to convince you will make you play faster, but in reality it does not,and you risk the neck to do so.most necks are already thin enough.
6. That is good and all,but that does not help with warranty stuff.I never buy the extra protection...it's worthless.
7.
what?!?!?!? how could you hate it?!?!? i know some people dont like the amazingly flat necks but they fit my hands perfectly. and they are like amazinly rare O.O there was a month between seeing it and playing it (and falling in love) and me buying it and the price had gone up by £100!! coz they were all selling out. Ha sorry but i love that guitar and i cant stand anyone to put it down!
The necks are nice...the frets are soft though... Main thing is they are tonally dead and overpriced.for the same price there are numerous esp ltd models equipped with the same pups and a better bridge, with mahogany or alder as a body wood.
8. I have given up on GC...They are the used car salesmen of the guitar world. Some of the people in the one in Austin are decent guys, but they are forced to sell as much of that inferior equipment as they can. Musicmakers in austin is a much better place...better equipment, better salesmen.
9. The peavey JSX is quite a decent amp...But I think crafty is just a little tone deaf anyway.
10. Graphite is the preffered lubricant for this application.
11. Hope you enjoy that warmoth neck...i bought a mahogany 22 fret neck with ss frets and a pau ferro fretboard from them a while back to replace a wizard neck on an ibanez sabre, and i could not have been happier. great neck.
12. Hey,dood...when you find that 14" by 21" by 1 3/4" thick piece of ebony, let me know where you got it and how much it cost you.please...I dare you....
13. I just wanted to say thanks to the guys who are taking the extra effort to report the spam, but also the guys who are posting "reported to mod" in the spam topic.you have no idea how much that helps...it keeps me from getting multiple p.m.s about the same topic and having my messenger fill up.. again ,thanks.
14.
it would be my ibanez RGT 6 EX because it is dam sexy and amazing to play, and it sounds great
mmm...I had one of those...hated it
15. You thought wrong...I bought a Mesa a while back and returned it the next day.It was a triple rectifier and it only had one sound....bad. After trying out ALOT of tube amps recently,I came to the opinion that there are many much better, more versatile tube amps than the mesa at better prices.
16. Well, the fact that he reposted helps lend credibility. I thinnk it is as good as any other video, but I must admit I only like videos with nudity...Duran Duran's "Girl's on Film" is the last one I really liked.
17. You stole my band "business model".... I locked that thread because we have a pinned topic about it.No need to rehash it all here.Really,If you want to be heard on this subject ,you need to email or p.m. Brian. He is the one and only decider on board policies that heavy. His board, his stand. If he gives the go ahead,I would be more than happy to slap down any and all infringements.Personally I despise false logos. I have no problem with funny takeoffs(such as jehle's "jellycaster"),but a Fender or Gibson logo on a fake? That is just wrong, and excuse my french, but it takes a real poseur to think it is cool.
18. Electronics newb or not, those pots are in no way one piece with the knobs.they are just stuck because they are on tight and have been there a while.I promise that you made a huge mistake, and a mistake that NOBODY I have ever known has ever made. I have had some knobs so stuck that it took very careful work to remove, and some that were plastic even cracked...but most knobs are installed without screws of any kind. Why does every nood say "I am not a noob"?only a person with ZERO guitar experience would make that mistake you made,so next time take the advice you are given instead of risking someone else's instrument that they might actually care about.
19. Interesting idea, but why?that's why people pull bends.I guess it would make chording quite interesting.
20. Sure, for maples and such.Just for informative purposes though it is quite easy to find figured bubinga in one piece sizes.
21. There ARE tutorials on how to properly remove a set neck.
22. You have never heard of Ibanez,Bc rich,etc....and you have never been to a guitar store of any type or looked at guitars on the internet? I just don't nderstand.24 fret 25.5" scale guitars with both bridge and neck pickups are standard no matter how you slice it.I do not own a single guitar without those exact specs.
23. Must...resist...obvious...joke....noooooooo...fighttheurgefighttheurge!
24. Flood control was enacted to stop the constant post upping from the younger members going "bump" and such all of the time .it has nothing to do with spam. Before Kevan ever did it,he gave multiple warnings that were not heeded. Logos are up to admin. It would be silly of of any companies to take legal action(I really don't even know if it is feasible),but we all know it is in bad taste, and every time it happens, the offender gets reamed.Other than that,I have no opinion. But I will say that this topic has every sign of turning into the same stupid argument it always does...if this happens it will be locked. We have a pinned topic about this in solidbody Jaden,I don't think anyone is worried about Ibanez...they do not have a history of that...Gibson though..
