  1. I swiped a few ideas from 3 different guitars for this and love every one of em. Like Wes Said grab a pencil and paper and go to town on designing your new axe.
  2. That's Damn Near 700 Dollars! The Pound is at 1.91 America today.
  3. That looks fantastic! Coming along Very Nice. I do mine that way also, Just Go For It once you've palnned it out how you want it.
  4. Yeah, Thanx BigD. I'm off to do some reading now.
  5. On the StewMac Website they show the truss rod being installed with the adjusting Nut on the bottom, with the access to the Adjustment nut at the heel end of the neck. If it were me, I'd follow the directions above on GuitarFrenzy's website OR drill your access hole at the heel. That way you can have the clean headstock and ease of drilling.
  6. Think about your options first and do the actual cutting/Drilling AFTER you Are Sure that is how you want it. Also, Make sure that the truss rod nut is put in the slot correctly. It looks like the nut is on top as opposed to the bottom where I think It Belongs. You may wanna check with the directions on the website or ask someone here that's used to installing HotRod Truss rods. I think you'd be happier with a nice hole drilled thru the wood instead of slotting to the headstock. Again, That's just personal opinion, And you know what those are like. Also, The headstock has a curve to it and that would be hard to fasten a cover to, since pickguard plastic is fairly thick, it would resist curving how you want it to be.
  7. Ya know, Ya get what ya pay for and Many of us on the forum have bought Carvin Necks and their Fantastic. The headstock isn't exactly like Strat necks though. They sell for 140. If you wanna get a strat copy neck this may be to your liking. Guitar shop Supply Dot Net They're Basically Mighty Mite Necks and not bad quality for the 80 Bucks they want for one.Carvin Neck
  8. As it's a modern trem, that WD one, as i suggested above, would be as close to strat as you can get without going Vintage. It ain't my guitar tho so do as ya please.
  9. 4 Holes for the trem, Whoa. That's Odd. Washburn Wonderbar? If you wanna stay somewhat traditional you could go with a Mann Made Style 2 Pivot fulcrum trem like this one. WD Trem Depending on what kinda neck you'll use This might be the ticket for ya.
  10. I was just reading a review on the Laguna Tools Bandsaw and the guy rated it as the best Saw he's used. You can check it out here If you're interested. Laguna Tools Bandsaw
  11. Like Setch, I know Neil Makes A Great Guitar BUT......I'd do it different as well. You need Neck Angle and If you have 2 1/2" Neck stock Why couldn't you take the angle from the body side instead of the neck side? I've always thought that when you cut the neck stock after glueing Make your angle from the body side since it's not as crucial to have the body side flat as the fingerboard mounting surface. Here's an example. I didn't mean to say the body side isn't crucial to have flat but that it's easier to get a level surface on the neck side from your table sawn surface. Then band saw the body side angle into the blank.
  12. Paradigm, You may want to consider "Tone Pro" Bridge Posts for the bridge since they are setup to fasten the bridge down to the posts and take that tilt out. And, seems to me that the nut needs to be cut a little deeper or try changing to a lighter guage string set.
  13. The pic you posted on the Photobucket website is considerably smaller than the one MATT uploaded and I was wondering which one was the original size?
  14. I may get roasted for this but I love this newish band from Akron, Ohio called "The Black Keys". Dan Auerbach is the guitarist and Patrick Carney is the drummer, Their a 2 piece and you'd swear that Dan was black from his voice. Blues Rock at it's best. Their music is featured in one of the New truck commercials also.
  15. Dude, I had the same problem a while back when truing up some basswood and I bought a cheapo planer I was using and my father left me a 14" Stanley Plane when he passed away a long time ago and it was the best by far and made you feel like you acomplished something. The old school way is sometimes the best way if you have the tools in front of you.
  16. Heya Greg, Good Work Man. Nice wood and finish. I've always liked the Double cutaway tele like guitars and this one is no exception. I'm assuming it's a bolt on neck, at least it appears to be. Anyhoo, Nice Job!
  17. Right Clik on the pic, Hilite Photo properties, Image location. Right clik again for Copy. Next go to the web page you wanna post the pic to. Don't go with the Fast Reply on this forum, go with the full options poster. Tell us what you like to then clik IMG button, and paste the location from the earlier action and your there dude.
  18. StringKilla, If you're using XP follow this handy tutorial. XP Upload tutorial
  19. This looks like a cheap guitar mind you but looks like somthing worth looking into. Adirondack
  20. I'm with Crafty on this ARose. I've never actually bought the kits at Carvin but I've owned their pickups and necks and their top notch. The Body wood just looks better than the Saga kits.
  21. I'm just chiming in here, as I haven't read all the other posts on this but, If you have 1/4 inch Maple you can glue it together for the top and buy some alder or basswood 1 1/2 inches thick and use it as the base part of the body. Trace around the bottom of your black guitar in the pic and merge the lines from your cutout to form the upper section and that should even things out a bit. When I do the same as you're doing, I draw a little and erase alot. If you have any friends that play LP's ask if you can trace it out and mod the tracing til you get what you want.
  22. And to think, I was going to get you one of those new fangled Digital Radio's from XFM London. Dang, Hotrock, You already have the cool presents for christmas now.
  23. Would YOU pay 40 bucks for it? I think That's what you have to ask yourself. The wood grain is the wrong direction and it looks like plywood to me. This my opinion, Mind you but It needs to be a lot bigger.
  24. The Necks on Both, the Tele and SG are quite meaty for me, so I looked at the LTD Viper and their necks were bulky also. I think the perfect marriage would be an Ibanez Style Neck with The Viper Body. Bolt on Neck of course, since the bolt's are much easier for the first time builder rather than a set neck like SG's.
  25. The 10 million Dollar Bass is the ultimate, buddy. Thompson's aren't for everybody but If I had the means to get one, You bet you arse I would. Those are scupted with TLC and It shows. All the beautiful woods he uses in them is mind blowing. The neck joints themselves are works of art. Do it, Buddy!
