  1. Nice design work pariah223. What software did you design that in? That rendering looks great! How long did it take you to do? Is that machineable datat? (CNC machine that is)
  2. Very interesting! I had to search a little to find the feeler gauges bigger than .031, but now that I have, it shouldn't be too much trouble to make my self a set of these.
  3. I would do some research here about the duplicolor clear. I seems to me I have read several bad reports about it. IIRC it takes forever to cure and even after you wait forever the finish isn't very hard.
  4. Odds are the the guitar was painted a solid color because the wood underneath wasn't going to look good with a natural finish. As far as strippers go, alot of the chemical strippers you can buy at a walmart or something, don't hardly touch factory paint. I have a Cort V I am refinishing and I ended up just sanding the finish off, because the chemical stripper wouldn't cut it. Get yourself a random orbit sander and some 60 or 80 grit paper and have at it.
  5. I had a question and I thought I would just add it to this topic. I've been looking at some soldering stations on ebay, the kind that have variable temperature. Does anyone know what temp range I should be looking for?
  6. Love that scarf. How did you keep all the layers from sliding aroung when you glued that up?
  7. Come now! We all know that the moat on the otherside of that fence is filled with hungry sharks and alligators. No need to worry about anyone steeling anything. Drak, is that a granite surface plate or is it a piece of granite countertop?
  8. Lookin good but you need to check out the picture posting rules. One pic per post and that last pic is huge.
  9. Beautiful! I love your work.
  10. Drak thanks for the reply on the colors! I have one more question. What grit paper do you sand back with? I have been experimenting with some dye on scrap and I have been using 220 grit.
  11. You may be getting close to the deadline for this month. Anyway, go to the announcement section of the forum. The thread for the current guitar of the month contest will be pinned there. Make a reply to that thread. Include up to 4 pictures (you are allowed 4 pictures that are visible in the thread, after that you can have as many links to pictures as you want) of your axe and a written description (specs on materials and electronics and such). Thats all there is to it.
  12. Drak, would you mind sharing what colors, and process you have used so far?
  13. Godin, how did you prep the bookmatch joint on your maple top? Jointer? Hand plane? Sanding?
  14. You should try asking around at this site. mimf
  15. Gotta love the head bangin' storm trooper! That guitar is pretty sweet too.
  16. The only problem with that one is you will need about 4 more inches of travel in the y axis if you want to cut out guitar bodies.
  17. Here you go. Pick your poison. All different sizes, and all different prices. http://www.grizzly.com/products/mach-specs.aspx?key=480 I know grizzly is in the U.S. and I have no idea what their international shipping would be, but this will at least give you a picture to look at.
  18. I tried to get my wife to wear a stainless steel dress. She didn't think I was very funny!
  19. Lookin cool! Are the tops cut on a laser? How do you plan to join the top and back to the sides?
  20. Dude, How many of those did you cut with your cnc?
  21. Mattia, you are right on the money. Cnc is not a "quick draw it on the computer and push the magic botton kinda thing". I would probably be time and money ahead if I had just learned to do it by hand. And so much of what makes a great guitar, things like fretwork and setup, can't be done by a machine. These are the aspects of my first guitar that intimidate me. I think what gets most of the cnc guys riled up is the attitude that your cnc built guitar is not as good because the machine did all the work. I've run into alot of this kind of thinking in different places on the net. It's easy to assume anyone who raises a questioning opinion on using cnc comes from this school of thought. Mattia though, you clearly know what is involved, and your opinions are right on the money.
