  1. Actually, I think Brock(OLF) bought that one. I will probably dig out a couple more sets of that landscaped Coco for the next OLF swap(usually around November), everything is stacked away at the moment so that I have room for the stock I am sawing. Actually, I think I have a couple more billets of that stuff that I have to saw up also(but I will have to check its moisture level). When I get ready to load up pictures and such for that swap, I will forward you a link so you can pick whatever you want. Rich Please and thank you.

  3. I say make a cool "butcher block" style guitar with tons of little glued up pieces. It would look pretty sweet IMO
  4. I've had some cherry I wanted to use for a neck but ended up not because of a knot (see what I did there? ) It was pretty cool looking wood. Seemed very hard and close grained. I'm sure it would finish well.
  5. I'm a member of another forum, www.bwacksforum.com and the specialty is reason and looping in the studio and in live situations. You might get more responses if you asked over there.
  6. I use micro-mesh on all my boards and it doesn't change the shape with grits that high. I love this guitar, cant wait to see it done.

  8. I could do without the blocky wooden pickguard, but other than that it looks great!

That's funny, because every time I bring my guitars into GC the guy looks at the headstock first and then gives me crap about it not having a logo or serial number :D What was the desire behind relicing this build, Daniel? It's such a nice guitar! I don't know... I've never done one before, and since it's going to be my player I like my guitars to look a little worn in. Of course they always get that way naturally after a few years, but I wanted this one to look played right from the get go. Plus now I'm not worried about scratching my brand new perfect guitar when I play.

  12. Not only did I change the color to blue, but I also changed the neck profile and reliced it. This is the first guitar we reliced, and it's very minor, not the chunks taken out rusting hardware that you see all the time. link to rest of album.
  13. Actually the 24.624 is the 24 3/4 you'll find in stores. Gibson has changed scale lengths slightly over the years, but the 24.624 is the standard, but everyone mistakenly calls it 24 3/4.
  14. Frets in and the neck is mostly carved. The heel still needs to come down a bit and the volute is still rough.
  15. No the side braces are not tucked into the lining, I'll have to make note of that for the next one. The bracing on this one is a bit thicker then previous builds as I wanted it to be a fairly bright sounding guitar. Thanks for the comments everyone. BTW I just got the neck carved and the grain looks amazing. All thats left is to fret and the neck will be done.
  16. I played around with the positioning a lot before finally deciding where I wanted it. I think it looks best where it is when you look at the guitar as a whole.
  17. Here are some pictures of the inlay. The dots on the headstock are a braille S. All thats left to do before finishing is fret/carve the neck and bind the body. I can't wait to play this one. Check this out, it's a shot through the upper bout sound hole, you can see the sunlight coming through the spruce. Very cool. link
  18. I've got the fingerboard/binding on and I'm doing the inlay right now. It's got 5mm MOP dots on the bass side as position markers and a MOP cross at the 12th fret extending through 3 frets. Pictures to come. To the best of my knowledge the orange does not fade. I sure hope it doesn't, I love that look
  19. I've been building myself an acoustic made of black limba/sitka spruce (got the wood from Rich) it will have rosewood fingerboard/binding/bridge and fishman matrix infinity electronics. I love the quality of the wood, the spruce is *very* fine grained and has an even white color across the entire piece, plus the black limba has some crazy orange streaking through it. It has a "player" sound hole on the upper bout and a butt jointed bolt on neck joint. I'm thinking of mounting the volume control of the electronics in the sound hole on the upper bout. It should look pretty cool. Click here for more pictures.

  23. I use all CMT bits and keep them up (clean them after cutting oily woods, ie rosewood) and it makes all the difference in the quality of the cut. I had never broken a bit, but I used to get tearout problems with the cheap ones. But after switching to CMT I haven't had any tearout since.
  24. Tru Oil looks/feels amazing on swamp ash. Of course if you want something that looks a bit unique you could always grain fill with one color than shoot a different color over the top for a contrast effect. It looks pretty sweet.
