  1. Looks nice! Gotta love those carvin necks. They do a good job on them! The only thing i wonder about is the little microchip they put in them to track them throughout the factory. I'm paranoid though lol So are you going to put any inlays in?
  2. Okay! i found the answer. The answer andyt posted is good too, but the one i found is about half way down the first page of the pinned note in this section of the forum. Hope that helps!
  3. I think part of it depends on which Floyd Rose model you use. I know there's a few widths, depths and styles. And i know one hole goes all the way through the body. If no one else answers by the time i get back from finding this out, i'll post the answer!
  4. *sees the right handed version* wow, i didn't really think it would make THAT much of a difference. I like it a lot more now!
  5. howcome you stuffed the trem and pickup cavities with newspaper before you painted? I'm finishing a guitar, and i was wondering what significance it had, if any.
  6. What's the crinkily paper stuff you have in all the pickup cavities and the bridge cavity for on the blue one?
  7. well, what i'm referring to is Elysianguitar's post with his two RG style guitars that he's currently in the process of painting/finishing I guess the best thing to do would be to just ask him, huh?
  8. Hi I noticed on a few builds that people are filling their trem and pickup cavities with something like crumpled up paper and then spraying them. I'm guessing that its to make sure that the insides don't build up any thickness so that the pickups and trem fit. Is this right? If so, then how do you seal the wood inside of those cavities to prevent expansion of the wood so that you don't get cracks in your finish like i see on a lot of guitars that are 10+ years old? Is it okay to put one coat of poly in there to seal the instrument from moisture? Thanks!
  9. I really like the headstock shape. it gives me ideas!
  10. Interesting. I'm normally a fan of violin style guitars, and white guitars. I think its the cutaway and the white F holes that are disagreeing with me.
  11. wow, i just spooged a little... Seriously, that's ****ing awesome, and i'd be proud of that. There's people who would gladly pay over 3K+ for that. Just... wow.
  12. Its got a place to put your nuts if you wanna teabag them while you have them pinned! Well, now that its finished and i've seen a good picture of it, i guess its not that bad I would still make the bevels black or something. Just my opinion! Good work! How's she play/sound?
  13. Mustaine's leads could use some work though. You're right about his lead guitarist though. Have you ever seen that cover of "Cemetary Gates" from Dream Theater? Its on youtube somewhere. Mustaine comes in with the last solo. Its cool to see him as a surprise guest, but at the same time, i wish he'd thrown in something besides "WOAH! FAST! HOLY (poo)! MEEDLYMEEDLYMEEDLY WEEEEEW!!!"
  14. Yyyyyyyyyyyeahhhhhhh... stupid vocal teachers and their piano tapes and their mommimommimommi m&m kookookoo teeheeteehee lalalala mamemimomu crap
  15. That's quite an improvement! I've never filled in wood or anything like that, but i can totally notice a good change between the before and after shots. As far as your camera goes, your camera takes good pictures. What you need is daylight as opposed to lamplight.
  16. I think Hetfield's doing well for having blown out his vocals. At least he doesn't sound like the singer of Biohazard. Granted Hetfield's voice will never ever sound the same again, i think he got close in Death Magnetic, and that's about as close as it'll get. I think this album is a pleasant surprise considering the last three studio albums that were put out. I don't like Mustaine's vocals though. He sounds like me when i try to sing lol
  17. Oh man, my bass looked like that before i got a router to do the dirty work with. I did the entire thing by hand sanding though, because i didn't know how to use the router. You're in for some fun! about 5+ hours of it! I say turn on a TV, get a comfortable work station going with various grits layed out in front of you and wrap your wrists with ace bandages! If you're using power tools then disregard everything i've said lol.
  18. I think i'm the only person who absolutely hates this guitar and thinks it was ruined by the paint job lol. I would have liked to see maybe a transparent finish or a burst or something, but wow that's green As long as you like it!
  19. it reminds me of a pointy but classy les paul. i like it!
  20. I started off on the Ibanez Jumpstart kit. Mine came with a tape that showed you some first position chords. It was $160 and it included an Ibanez GRX20, a little 25W practice amp, a chord, some tools for the guitar, and a gig bag. I think Fender/Squire makes a package as well with all the same stuff.
  21. I've rebuilt necks on 2 guitars, replaced a neck on one bass, wired up probably 15 or 16 old ones and made them sound the way they did in various parts of the 60s and 70s (according to the owners), and i've designed and scrapped hundreds. So I'll count that as 1 lol Seriously though, I'm building my first one right now And its all thanks to this lovely forum and website!
  22. Lars's drumming on this album = meh Bob Rock not producing the album = why didn't this happen 10 years ago? Seriously, he produced Bon Jovi *waves hands around randomly* why would they choose him to produce!?
  23. I place it on the cutting table sand down and cut out whatever shape i need with my handy dandy Lowe's safety work knife
