  1. Man I just tried to explain it before, Lovecraft was more clear than me and I agree with him. That's the why. If I buy a Marshall I want a tube head not a pedal overdrive however the clean channel isn't so bad. There always is the posdsability to modify it. And consider the power you need too. If you play in clubs or/and on little - medium stage, believe me 100W are a lot!!! I think you woud loose your bet I told it is a question of taste, after all discssions. So also if i would not recommend it to anyone..... try it!!! I could like it sooooo much!!!
  2. Look at Reranch first, there you can buy all you need too. Then ask here for more specific questions
  3. That clean isn't so bad but I would look for another amp. The lead sound isn't good IMO. The distortion isn't mainly generated by tubes on that model. A friend of mine modified it changing the EL34 tubes with 6L6. He also changed some recistances. The "clean" sounds better IMHO. If the clean and crunch sound you're searching, for rock and blues rhythm and solos, there are a lot of other amps from Marshall. It's only up to the price he wants to sell you. Another friend of mine found an old guy was selling it with the 4 x 12 cabinet at the price of the head. In that case I recommended it, then we can modify something. If it isn't cheap I would not recommend it to anyone. Of course that's just my taste on amp sound... and definitevely my 2 cents. The specs are (from that I can remember): 2 channel (clean - lead) 3 band EQ on both channel reverb on both channel effects loop (you can chosse between serial and parallel loop) 3 12AX7 pre amp tubes 4 EL34 power tubes Yes, I think to remember the right specs. Hope that can help you. Remember: on sound often is a matter of taste
  4. For anyone tried a Birchwood Tru Oil. How many coats do you use? Then do you use the Birchwood wood wax too? I'm going to finish a maple Strat neck so I was thinking 2 coats of oil but I dunno if wax is needed or isn't.
  5. Thanks for tha reply David. Yeah It should be like yours but with the maple top added. But I think it will be more bright cuz I forgot to tell you it will be 25,5" scale 24 frets Just undecided about the choise of wood, laminate maple-bubinga-maple neck in estearn flamed maple or hard maple? David, do you have a mp3 link for that guitar?
  6. Great work David.... as always What kind of ebony do you use? I heard madagascar is a bit unstable even if kiln dried. Other people suggest gabon ebony that is, on the other side, never full black and needs some black stain. Then i did read a post where you spoke about wood importance on final tone but I can't find it. Real can it make a difference to use soft (like the flamed) instead of hard maple? I'm going to make a mahogany body with a 1/4 figured maple top, so I was just think to a maple neck (bolt on) and an ebony fingerboard. What do you guess about tone, folks? Bright, warm, in the middle. I heard people saying neck wood is more important than body so I think that combination should be bright without the warmth of mahogany?!?! I simple am a bit confused BTW back on topic and.... my congratulations again
  7. Hi i was able to find here a high quality 2 part polyester sanding sealer used in forniture industry. will it work under a Dupont polyurethane? That's the only polyester finish I can find now, of course the clear polyester too. But all they are manufcured by industries supplying for forniture builders. I dunno if there's a polyester finish by an automotive paints supplier. I have to ask. What do you think? Maybe it's better use straight poly on the bare wood.... or not? Who use poly on dyed top? What sealer do you use? I'm a bit confused
  8. Nooooo.... you did that axe and do you let a StewMac PUs on? Please pull out those and mount a couple of Seymour Duncan!!!
  9. Great job as first attempt I hope mine will be too And yes.... the first time there are a lot of things you forget about. It's very easy to make a mistake, anyway it is finished and looks great!!! P.S. I guess Kevan will kill you if he sees your post with all those pics
  10. The bridge is new. i don't need to replace them. I was just asking cuz I always thought they weren't replaceable and I was wrong. I'm happy to be wrong on that FYI In italy Ibanez stuff costs so less than USA, about 60$ less (the LoPRO) But you have a lot of stuff cheaper than here
  11. I was waiting since 1st july this bridge and the locking nut for Wizard II necks (16" radius). Now that I have the bridge in hand I can see that the knifes are differents. It seems that I can change them now. Not as my Lo Pro on my JEM dated 1997 and I also noticed Ibanez Rules sells Knifes Edge set. This lets me to think it is so. Anyone know if am I right or not?
  12. At least the "dots part" is easy It seems to me like abalone dots in standard position and some 2 mm dots combined. You could do one of the "helix" (I don't remeber any appropriate word ) in purpleheart wood.
  13. Ok this is a trusty seller. He has good stuff. Check his ebay shop
  14. Ah ok you wrote "he" not they!!! P.S. Dude you missed the "s" on "need". that's not the first time so.... all italian staff have to take english lessons and I think we're too far "off topic"
  15. Ok I am not a master in english language but why do you say I need lessons? See ya on Progetto We check this great board every day
  16. Ok dudes, I can guarantee you it was jast a spelling mistake I know him from Progettochitarra. So back to the topic.... as I already said you, I like that top!!!

  20. Good man!!! I was just looking that simply all woods I like for fretboards are toxic or can cause allergies
  21. There's a friend of mine, he's in the ProgettoChitarra staff too. Me too . He made a strato from 1 piece of paduca with a maple fingerboard but if you are looking for pictures there's only one. BTW the link is this. It's just the first guitar. If you click on his name you can mail him. Try to ask for more pictures. Tell him a friend from Progetto gave you the link to his guitar.
  22. Ok man, great job!!! Now did you find the courage to make the neck?
  23. I hope to see you post and take pictures soon. I like your guitars and I always did read with interest your replies. See ya soon maybe with a new axe Gian
