  1. well, no, it's one thing i'll be checking soon (haven't had much time) but they're new and they still light up when I open the amp
  2. well, as I said in my 1st post, I checked them with an ohmmeter and it reads at ~10 ohms And also there's a balanced output and I checked it with a meter and there's no output
  3. well, i've narrowed it down... It's the power amp. I just ran the preamp to another amp and it works so it has to be in the power amp... Thanks
  4. Alright here's the situation... I was playing today pretty loudly (almost max volume) and my tube amp decided to stop doing any sound whatsoever... Now it seems to work (channel switch and such work and power tubes are lit) but it does not make a sound at all no matter what I do... I checked both the fuse and the speaker with an ohmmeter and both are still good... What could the problem be?? Anyone has an idea? Could it be repairable by my father (he's an electrician btw)?? Also, anyone knows where I could get the schematics for a Crate Blue Voodoo 60w combo (BV-60)? I guess I could find a schematic for the 120w head, anyways... Thanks guys!
  5. marshall is over-priced... +1 for a Carvin or a Crate
  6. Video of various extremely talented poeple... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOiXokYQbhM...guthrie%20govan Seriously... What the heck is this!!! Most of these are plain and simply unbelievable
  7. Well, I guess that depends... With my single coil guitar, I turn my amp's distortion almost all the way because I don't have enough output... With just a little output boost I wouldn't need to but I don't have a choice right now. Would never do that with a high output pickup though If I was you i'd try to get a good OLD tube amp... A tube amp can hardly really wear out... only the tubes wich you can get replaced pretty easily... And for the digital vs analog debate... Well I tought my GT-3's distortion sounded good before I got my amp. I have not used any of it's distortion sounds since then
  8. the difference is the circuit... Electric guitar amps have come to color the sound of your guitar a LOT. An acoustic amp is closer to a PA or a bass amp in the circuit it uses in the fact that it does not color your sound or not a lot... To awnser the question: It's not bad for the amp itself (At least, I don't think so.) but it really wont sound as good as an amp designed to do just that
  9. PRS Private Stock single cut: And another one: Private stock McCarthy
  10. try http://www.carvinworld.com/ , with a little luck you could have a dealer somewhere near you!
  11. just build one... Or buy one, most switches will work... I'm looking at building one for my blue voodoo combo... all you need are 2 on/off switches (Carling does them), a *very* cheap 1/4" cable (no sound goes to it) and a radio shack box! Now the problem is to find those switches... I know Digikey carries them... 6.76$ CDN each... I've calculated about 20$CDN total (16$US) for a box that would probably cost me 30-40$ If i bought one in a store.
  12. holy crap... Do you realise how much that 1830s martin must be worth!!??
  13. Breadwinner? Kinda looks like it doesn't it? Ovation Breadwinner:
  14. alright thanks... The C22B is one I was considering. I heard that the C22T was totally crap lol
  15. the only advantage is it allows to adjust the truss rod without loosening the strings
  16. The pickups are good? What C22 model is it? I'm considering ordering from them to change my HSS guitar's pickups someday...
  17. You could go to a wood shop and get it planed... I did that and it cost me like... 10$ or so
  18. it's also a Novax bass! Fanned frets and all... Yep, that's pretty damn badass
  19. Where more or less in quebec? If you're around Montreal, there's a REALLY great wood place... It's called Langevin & Forest. You can get any wood you want there... http://www.langevinforest.com
  20. Hey! My main (as in only...) electric guitar right now is an H/S/S guitar. I decided to change the pickups... I'm considering some SD Live Wire Metal pickup set for it... My problem is they are 2 conductors! Normally it would not be a problem, but the guitar's wireing is 3 on/off switches (1 per pickup) and a on/on/on mini switch for series/parallel/split for the humbucker..... What could I do with the mini switch?? Any ideas? Maybe there's a way to convert the HB to 4 wire? Also, are the pickups any good?? I mean it's still 240$... Thanks a lot!
  21. Actually, I meant in between the middle and neck pickups on a 3 pickup guitar... (H/S/S or S/S/S)
  22. Would a standalone driver work mounted in between the neck and bridge pickups (with single coils)? That could help a lot with the compatibility problems
  23. Ever tryed a super-shallow bowl? Mine is one and i'd change "least" for "most" And yea, I think you're right, Ovations have that kinda sound that cuts through the mix with lots of mids... Compressed is the right word to explain it lol...
