  2. snork....................................................................................................well your are right if its made out of wood then its the same no matter who makes what ! heck my desk is wood ! so therefore it is vurtually a strat! and my cedar chest is wood so h!#$ its the same as a martin!
  3. man no PRS? i vote tokai! they make a better les paul than gibson ever could! ha ha gotta love the love rocket!
  4. i asked for the drum sander that delta or rahobi makes with the table, and lots of bessey clamps and quick grip clamps!
  5. pete biltof makes great pickups! i have a set of humbucker sized soapbars in my hollow body and boy do they sound great! these are being sent to me this week! SEXY!!!!!! i had him over wind the bridge so its a little hotter than a standard , his humbuckers are designed like classic 59's oh and if you use his piclups he is a great guy to do business with! let him know i sent ya! he is really cool!
  6. well dupaulesupply.com i think is a good place for shell, and for binding i make my own using diferent woods on the rh1 i used maple/walnut/bass wood. they worked well, also holly and pear wood are good for bending and you can die them different colors easily. if you have access to a thickness sander you can sand down some strips of the wood to like 1/16 then they will bend nice for you, and also cut them to the rough widths needed so they bend even easier. im thinking of getting one of those "shark" steamers for the house and using it with a pvc tube to steam the wood for an hour or two then bending it on a mold of my body design this way it will be preshaped before i glue it up.
  7. boy i feel so loved here no one remembers! it was on the hollow body that i entered this month, i used the behlen violin varnish and it didnt harden after six weeks so i had to strip it down and refinish it! that sucked ! i dont know if it was a bad batch or if i recoated to soon, but i waited 24 hours between coats and it was dry to touch but when i pressed a finger on it after a min it would leave a mark. give the stuff a try though and if it works out let me know what you use cause i'd like to try varnish again sometime!
  8. yeah i dont like the new dragons at all!!! i like your guys stuff better its hand cut and hand inlayed! i like prs's old dragons in the fret board but i hate the new one! its like lgm sayed very tacky!
  9. i guess they would work? kinda like PRS strap buttons, i prefer strp locks though, escpecially when jumpin around on stage!
  10. i voted less than a week, of course i didnt even try to learn it, so thats why its less than a week. i never try to learn other peoples stuff, maybe its cause im not that good or maybe its cause i'd rather write my own music but im not woried about it, i'd love to see tha movie though, maybe i'll rent it this week!
  11. i agree theres little kids in here and they dont have their ear muffs on!
  12. hey wes dont you remember my problems with varnish? but i think i put rushed the drying process so i might give it a go some time in the future
  13. home depot in the hardware section, its in a rack with all kinds of steel and aluminum. its not to cheap but it will look cool! and its high polished aluminum so it looks really good and i think it would rock as a pick guard! you could cut it out with either a jig saw or a band saw then file to the line
  14. sixstring is right that is a very good school! i know a few builders that only will hire from there!
  15. snork dont even go there or we'll have to take it to the rant section! dave grohl is a really good engineer and musician and i highly doubt he'd play the dan armstong just for looks, and how do you know he even uses that guitar in the studio? i know he doesnt use the mesas in their, he uses a vox ac30, and uses the mesas live. so dont be bashin the foo or the foo will get ya!
  16. i'd contact stew mac anyway! they might be able to help you, they are very nice and if you tell them your gonna be a reeat customer they might do what is needed. good luck heck the ruler is so small tell them to put it in an envalope and mail it!
  17. i use "brazing" rod for welders, you can get it at home depot for really cheap! it is a brass rod the is 3/32" they have other demensions also, its up to you. but i just snip off little peices drill the holes then push them in with a little ca glue. then i file them down after the glue dries, they look nice! you can get brass or aluminum so then you can have gold or silver side dots! oh and some brands have "flux" on them wich is white stuff, just scrape it off it kinda crumbles off really easy.
  18. oh yeah! it is very hard but i think it will be a very nice hollow body once its done! i cant wait to see your vee when its done!
  19. snork im confused? i thught you already screwed something up with the dremel?
  20. no gun for me! i hate them! i prefer a pencil style plus its always good for a laugh when it falls and burns the rug! he he
  21. i bought stew macs ruler and it is very nice! i say its worth the tweny!
  22. boy drak that is very nice! i am lovin the bubinga to! im doing a hollow body with three peice bubinga but there are two strips of 1/8" canary the same width as the neck its gonna look awsome! im lovin the v though and man that koa is very pretty! make as many tops as you can out of that!
  23. wekk snork also add a drill and sanding disk attachment to my list i made you in the other thred! i didnt know you wanted a carved top and back, by the way is awsome! 1 of the 5 i am building right now is that way and its gonna be sweet!
  24. dont get discoraged if you dont have the cash, lgm is right you'd rather spend a little more on quallity that buy crap and replace it in a year! but also dont get to far ahead of your self! i think i did so i am taking a step back to get some breathing room and to focus more, i know for me i started thinking yeah! this will be great i can just go and make a killing right away! but its not like that, i made a few prototypes and i use them for my gigs to see what i would want to change and what i will keep the same, i got lucky cause for the most part the design is great! but there are a few things im changing to speed up production and create a better musical instrument. you are young so you have time, does your family support you? this is a big thing luckily my wife supports me or else id be srewed. good luck and i wish you the best!
